Why do people buy after they read a sales letter???

I'm just wondering about sales letters. Like someone reads a sales letter, is convinced that the product will deliver the results and they buy. Meanwhile if they wanted results or information on a certain topic they could simply visit there library, do google and youtube searches for free info on the subject, and get free info from a ton of sources.

So if you write a sales letter selling some info product, should you expect sales even if the information on the subject is pretty common place? And then what exactly happens that people buy and they don't just go try and find free info on the subject?

    There is really not much "FREE" information available. Do a search for website traffic generation. You will find a ton of vague information and a ton more people selling traffic courses. So you look through the offers and "Buy" the one that you feel will deliver what you want

    One reason that people might purchase information that IS freely available in other niches is for efficiency of time and energy. If they can pay 17.00 or 47.00 for someone else to have pulled information together for them it can be worth their time.

    When done correctly, information products should also bring the author's perspective on the topic, along with research and information that can be found elsewhere or which might be commonly known.

    The same is said for books at the library or bookstore. Except in those instances the time from creation to publication is a lot longer

    there is value in finding "quickly" & "easily" , "relevant" information at "one place". Some people will pay for these, especially if the price is right.

    If the copy is any good the sales page probably pulled some emotional triggers, and motivated the person to purchase the product.

    It's rare that you see an e-book containing brand new information not available elsewhere. What you do see is the information being presented in a different package. People pay fot it because they're convinced the information they pay money for is better than the information available for free.

    Okay good to know. I'm just finishing my info course but I'm thinking as I look around.... wow this info is all over for free online with the right searches. Kinda a pain, but my thought is I'm trying to make my course look exclusive so it appears far superior to any free or cheap info on the market. I want to try and sell it for 2000 a pop. I wonder if that's possible. It would be a physical course though that's 500 pages long in 2 binders, probably including a CD. My goal is hopefully to attract affiliates that way offering 50%. I really hope this works, cuz I'm sick of living in my parents basement! LOL
