Anti-virus... eye chart? Simple test for Conficker

I noticed a lot of concern about Conficker before April 1. It's still out there, and has serious potential for damage. Just not as predictable as a lot of people thought.

If you'd like to test your system to see if it is possibly infected by this malware, just go to http://www.talkbiz.com/confickertest and look at the pictures.

My thanks to Joe Stewart for allowing me to host a mirror of his innovative test.

Feel free to pass that URL around. The more people know if their systems are infected, the better it is for everyone.

The timing is good, too. It appears that Conficker has started downloading new data. Twitter is all a-Tweet about it.

I wonder if this is why Joe's site is down...

Made a brief search online what this new term means..
and found that it's kind of a worm...

But couldn't find the solution...

Mind you share yours?

If you find that you're are likely to have the worm on your
machine, immediately disconnect from the Internet. Find a
machine that isn't infected, and get a copy of Microsoft's
Malicious Software Removal Tool.

Do not reconnect to the Internet until you've run that on the
infected machine.

Assume nothing. If you saw only one of the top three images, you may still be infected with some variant that MSRT won't spot. (I don't know that you are, but I also don't know that you're not.)

Do not go to any site that requires passwords or that uses sensitive info until you've done as complete a diagnostic as possible.

For starters, try to connect to the sites those pictures that didn't show up are linked to. If you can get to them, you're probably safe from Conficker.

My machine was infected. Got malwarebytes - a free program and cleared it up fast. It is a nasty little virus.
