Hello All

I would like to have a site where I host my own videos. This would be a free membership site where you would provide your email address to gain access to a series of video tutorials. I am thinking that Optimize Press would be the theme to use but for the videos do I need some sort of player? what would you reccomend and why.

Thank You

Al

If you're willing to spend a few bucks, signing up with a video hosting
service (like Amazon S3) will make thing easier for you and a better
    experience for your visitors.

OptimizePress already has an internal video player. You can also host your content on youtube as not listed as a public video so that it saves you server bandwidth. Lastly, if those two options don't work, most of us use jwplayer for playing videos.

I would definitely recommend Easy Video Player.

You can sync it with Amazon s3 and Cloudfront (for really quick load times).

    Just my 2c.

I have a membership site and i have lots of videos in there

I use amazon s3 to host all my videos

I use fast member for the membership script

And optimize press for the membership platform

Everything works really well using this combination

To offer your videos to members you will need two things -- video hosting and a video player.

For video hosting the standard nowadays is Amazon S3 and that's exactly who I use. It's fast, it's cheap, and it's reliable.

For a video player I use and recommend Easy Video Player. There are other free options out there or video players built into themes such as OptimizePress but I much prefer to use a video player outside of a theme so you can put those videos anywhere.

One other thing I might mention is that I have learnt people (myself included) much prefer being able to download a video and watch it at their own leisure. I absolutely hate membership sites where the videos are streamed only. I usually end up just finding the video source file anyway and downloading it that way.

I have a membership coaching program and I use this setup,

#1 Upload the video in MP4 in amazon s3 Amazon Web Services <- sign up for a free plan
#2 Then make the video public by right clicking it on the amazon panel
#3 Add this plugin "Flowplayer for wordpress" or if you have optimizepress then it should have a video player

Amazon costs pennies, and very affordable. So I recommend you use it to save money with the bandwidth. I tried streaming HD videos with S3 + Flowplayer and it loads good!
