Confussed with YouTube?

I wanted to set up a 2nd YouTube account and then just discovered tonight that you now need to give your cell phone.

I thought maybe I will now just stick with the account I have but I have many niches and would like to upload videos for another niche now with a different name? How do I go about this? Do I have to set up another channel for each niche? I couldn't really see an obvious way to do this when I logged in and would really appreciate any info as to the best way to do this.

You can try and setup a new Google Account and see if they don't require you to use phone verification. (I have several of these, sometimes I had to use one, and other times I didn't) If you can than you will have access to all of Google's products

But understand YT changes their procedures quite often, so just because you didn't have to use phone verification the first time around, doesn't mean you won't have to this time or in the future.

I just set-up another one and it gave me the option to skip it. Not sure what the deal is.

I think you should be able to set up a new account for your channel/niche without having to verify your phone. You may very well get in touch with them and ask for a way around but at the end of the day, they have the final.

There is no problem with having several Google accounts in order to be able to set up a number of different YouTube channels. The only thing that needs to be different is the name of the account. You can definitely use the same telephone number if they ask for verification.

With the exception of the account name, I use the same information for all my accounts.

I didn't have to use a phone number for my first account and I was asked to give a phone number when I atempted to open up a second account which I didn't really want to do so I unsure what to do.

Can I just put all my videos within my one account now, they are all similar niches - are there any drawbacks to doing this other than putting all your eggs in one basket if they closed your account

There was a stage that phone numbers were not required, but that has all changed. I am not sure why you would not want to provide your number. It is very rare that they will contact you in that way (don't know of anyone who has been called to tell the truth)

It is possible that they might be using the number as a form of ID

You can of course put all your videos in one channel, but unless they are directly related keyword wise, you might find it difficult to rank them.

Try to think of your channel as being a website and your videos as being your content.

Would you put all that content on one website?

Appreciate your comments. How would putting all my videos in one account possibly affect the rankings? I use differents tags for each video so I just presumed I would just do the same with my 2nd niche. The niches are every closely related but still a bunch of different KW's

If they are that closely related then perhaps it wont make a difference at all. I have learned however that the more tightly focused the channel and videos are keyword wise, the more effective it is.

Example: I have a product which covers quite a wide range of subjects. Just using the original name of the product together even with the specific tightly focused keywords included has not been effective. I need to create a channel and videos for each of the specific areas under discussion and then create playlists in each channel with all the videos included.

If you have a lot of accounts to be created, I would suggest you order a Phone Verified Accounts gig from Fiverr. They give you atleast 100 PVA Gmail accounts for $5 and that is a deal!

Apparently you can use the same number for each account/channel you set up so I am going to buy another mobile and use that phone for my work number rather than giving out my personal number

How recently did they change it so you need to enter a phone number? When I signed up a few weeks ago, it asked for a CAPCHA but no phone number.

It used to ask a phone number about once every 3 signups though. Although I noticed that if you clear your browser cache and cookies before signing up, it didn't ask for a phone number.

You can use ccleaner to remove all of your browsing history, cookies and cache.
But notice, you cant use the same phone number to verify more than one account
if you did that, they will delete all of your accounts.

    Thanks!

You most definitely can use the same telephone number. I use the same number for all my accounts and have not had any accounts deleted.

Also, I personally spoke to a senior person at Google, who confirmed that we can have multiple Google accounts, as long as each account has a different name though the detail i.e. telephone number can be the same in each account.

Hmm this must be newly implemented feature because I set up a few youtube accounts a few days ago and giving your phone number is optional. My advice is to check out Fiverr.com and see if anyone is selling any PVA Youtube accounts (Phone Verified Accounts)

It may have something to do with location. I live in South Africa and due to our "rainbow" mix, the rules could well be different.

The verification thing is all part of Google's mysterious algorithm.

Sometimes I have the option to skip phone number verification, and then sometimes (even after cleaning my system with cc cleaner) I am required to add one.

Don't understand it, but since you can use the same number repeatedly it's not a huge deal
