What's the Best Way to Present a "Bonus" Ebook for Opt-In Subscribers?

I have a new ebook that I will be giving away for opt-in subscribers.
I have an older one that I want to give away as well for subscribers, however I need some direction on how to go about exposing the "free gift" one.

Should it be presented at the screen that the visitor is presented with the main ebook (before they opt-in), or should it be presented after they've already proceeded with opting-in?

I would assume that the second book should be presented in some fashion along with the original ebook (to increase opt-in rate, perhaps), however I'm not sure how.

For example, should I explain the benefits of the original ebook and say that they will get another "free gift" when they opt-in?

Any feedback you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks guys, and have a happy new year.

So this is your second eBook? Hmm...

Well, I suppose you could look at it like this. If you put it in the squeeze/opt-in, you're probably going to get a higher opt-in rate.

However, if you put it in the email campaign, you might get more interest from your subscribers. Tell me, what are your open rates looking like?

I don't know, I just launched my opt-in campaign about a week ago, but I figured that the second ebook would fit the core problem of my target demographic better.

I've yet to send an email to my opt-in subscribers yet (the first one was planned to be a pre-New Years email to be sent New Years Eve), other than a "thank you" email that they got when they subscribed.

So, in other words, I can't give you an open rate just yet.

Then just put the second book on the opt in page. No point giving your new subscribers an inferior ebook, there's enough of them about and it doesn't motivate your subscribers to open your future emails. Either make the inferior (first book) better, or throw it out - or, combine the two and create an even better book.

Yeah, maybe do this. And then perhaps use your original eBook as a sort of 'bonus' for your email campaign. Send them an email after they've downloaded the first one.

They'll be pleasantly surprised to see you're offering them more free content, BUT ONLY IF THEY WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE FIRST ONE. Having said this, the first eBook they get has to be tops!

Who knows? You might be better off collecting more leads by offering them both at the same time. I find leads are useless though if they decide not to open your emails... I think it would be wise to insert it into your follow-up campaign somewhere.
