The orange color has to go. You would be much better off taking a look at itunes and how they design things. Simple and professional looking.

Thank you WillR for your suggestions. After reading your advice I opened apple itunes on my browser. I don't know exactly why I did not realize that the orange was not helping the site.

Did you make the theme yourself? Here's what I'd do.

- Install WordPress
- Install minimal theme
- Get proper logo

That way, it may look more credible. Yes, the orange is a problem.

No, I did not make this theme myself. I actually bought it. The problem was that I had the choice between a background that was white or black.

That's the type of site you want to be replicating.

People are now trained to buy from sites that look like that so the more you can mimic that minimalist design, the better. Just changing your background color to white or off-white will make an instant difference.

There is also a VERY good reason why newspapers have used black text on a white background for the last few hundred years -- because it works. Keep that in mind when designing things. It is natural for us to read black text on a white background. It is NOT natural for us to read black text on an orange background.

Not sure about the sidebar/social icons. Never liked sites that use them like that. I can see why you do it but, from a design point of view, it is much better off static at the top of the site in my opinion.

Hi Alasdairsim, I agree that the social icons may look better if they where on the menu bar. I wanted to do it but I did not succeed in placing them there earlier. I have sent a message to the seller of the theme to know how to get this done. Thank you for your suggestions.

Since you asking about the look, i would suggest The Design Review form might be more useful.

I think the layout is good, but the background color is terrrible, i would suggest to create customrized background (specially since it is for entertainment).

I agree with the rest of the responses here. That orange color is hard on the eyes and has to go. I'd also get rid of the constantly scrolling Flash box at the top or change it so it only scrolls when a person clicks on arrows. The constant motion gives me a headache.

As others have said, the orange needs to go. Studies have shown that light backgrounds (white) work the best for content and are much easier on the eye.

You DEFINITELY need a new logo.

The rolling header is distracting and not effective. Better off with a slow fade with 2-3 of the best films that are most recognized.

Looks are not that important (at least in the web business) 4 years ago my website looked like crap but I moved it up with content.

What you should be concerned is,

#1 Is it easy to navigate for a new visitor?
#2 Can people easily find what they looking for?
#3 Does the site loads faster? test it here: Pingdom Tools
#4 Does it looks good on mobile devices? test it here: Opera Mini simulator

I can see it appealing to movie lovers out there. I recognize the script and it's pretty much the same as others I've seen on flippa.

The ad placements seem out of place at the bottom. Can't you put in a side bar on the right?

First of all, it's nothing original about it. It exist thousands of similar sites out there so why would your target group choose YOUR site instead of all the other sites when they want to check out movies? It's not to be rude I'm saying this but it lacks originality.

Second, I don't like all the grey in the design. Somehow it hurts my eyes. So when it comes to design, sometimes simplicity is the best; Remove for example all the grey backgrounds and replace them with white backgrounds and grey elements with black elements because black & white looks much better than grey & grey.

You must have changed it already because overall, it's a nice looking site. Not in the market for one like that myself, so no, I wouldn't buy it, but someone may.

I agree that the movies slider is too fast moving. Maybe a fade or a slower scroll would work better.

ProServices, yes it seems that the footer could look better. No, I am not aware of a way to put the ads on the sidebar for the home page. I thought about adding one more banner in the footer. But, because of your advice I may have to rethink that.

I see that you've changed your header image and it looks nice

But the menubar is a bit off-centered. Maybe you want to fix that.

And something else Echelon, if I were you, i would have replaced the 300x250 & the 250x250 banners in the footer with a 728x90 banner. It would have looked so much nicer!
