Getting More Likes With Facebook Advertising?

Experimenting with Facebook Ads lately:


This is my best campaign so far, but I'm not satisfied since it's kinda expensive.

Yes I have:
- implemented call to action
- tried different headlines
- tried headlines with question mark
- tried different images

No I haven't:
- tried CPC
- Set CPM myself

Does anyone has tips, a good article or video about facebook advertising?

My goal is to get 2,000 likes. Currently 196 out of a $50 budget and I'm obviously not going to spend $500 to get 2k likes .

    I have a small suggestion that brought me a good result.

    Simply find out your niche related big fan page and contact the owner to promote your page.

    What do you think about FB holding half your "likes/fans" hostage every-time you send out an update?

    Heard from a lot of big companies (plus Mark Cuban) that this is what they are doing, so as to get more money out of them. The same would go for smaller advertisers too?

    Not sure, not my thing, just asking your opinion on that - if it's worth it to advertise-for-likes nowadays.

      I can tell you what works on my wife...

      > Contests/sweeps where you have to 'like' a page before you can enter.

      > Coupons where you have to 'like' a page before you can print the coupon.

      Some companies get greedy and require permission to post to her wall on top of the like - these get the back button immediately.

      So I've heard yes, but there's a way to avoid this by asking your fans to add the page to their interests or something, can't remember the exact settings.

      Good suggestions, however I'm planning to get likes from facebook only and not from my website. Since that would require me to promote the website as well.
