How Many Subscribers Do i Need Before i Actually Start Marketing???

Hey Warriors,

Quick question, i started to create a list about one week ago, and since then i have gained about 25 subscribers. I want to know, in about how many more subscribers, or how many should i have until i start sending them promotional stuff? My original plan was to get to 100 before i start, but my impatience is starting to set in.

I would have already had the autoresponder loaded and start to deliver value. Each subscriber is an independent person, they have no idea who is on the list and them buying from you does not increase or decrease based on 100 subscribers, 200, or just 1 subscriber.

The number of subscribers on your list doesn't necessarily matter. Of course, the more the better but in the meantime, even though you only have such a small number, it's important that you continue to nurture that list and develop a good relationship with them.

It's really all about the quality that you give to your list - not quantity. Quality is much better in my opinion. Sending a mixture of educational emails and promotional emails works pretty good. For example: Your 1st email should always be a personal thank you with a second opportunity to download whatever they opted in for. The second email could perhaps be a little about yourself and more added educational information.

Something you found on a blog, or an article you read (that of course relates to the subject matter of your niche). Then, plug in a promotional email with a product or service that is related to your niche.

It can be a bit debatable as to when to plug in a promo email, but what works for me may not work for someone else. You would just have to experiment with this. However, the bottom line is, place a mixture of educational and promo emails within the 1st week of your email sequence.

You can even insert a newsletter or ezine with promotional elements within them and insert that into your email sequence so you can keep the lines of communication open with your subscribers.

Yes - a larger list is better, but because you are just starting out with a list, you need to gain that trust with the list you have. Then as your list grows, your email sequence is already in place. All you do then is work on driving traffic to your squeeze page or sales page.

Building a list can be slow and takes time, but once these people are on your list, they are yours to keep unless they unsubscribe. If you have some money to invest, then I would suggest investing in solo ads or some other form of paid traffic.

Most importantly - don't give up! Just keep working the forums that you discover within your niche and are active with participation. Write a few articles about your niche and submit them to the article directories. If you have a blog with promotional elements on it - send your subscribers to your blog. Use social networking as well. Things on Facebbok, Twitter and Pinterest will go viral. You'll get spread all over the place using them!

Anyway - at the end of the day - if all you have is 25 subscribers - start promoting to them in that 1st week of them signing up to your list. You don't need to wait to promote. Just don't promote immediately. Give them some good valuable information that is educational first and then the 3rd or 5th email - promote a good product or service.

Think of it in another way...

What would you prefer? - 1000, 10000000 subscribers (who did nothing BUT subscribe),

        or

        just 10 buyers ?

One. Until you start sending them email, not necessarily until you start sending them "promotional stuff": when you start sending each person "promotional stuff" has nothing to do with "how many subscribers there are" - it's to do with where each person is in your automated continuity-process.

Don't wait for the second person to opt in before starting to send the outgoing email series to the first person!

I strongly advise you to change your mind about that - it's a terrible idea!

      Think about it this way...

      > Unless you publish your list numbers, or announce them to your list, how does your first subscriber know he's your first subscriber? How will your 1,000th sub know that there are 999 others on the list? (Even newsletter publishers seem to have stopped bragging about their subscriber numbers other than on their rate cards.)

      > Unless your subscribers are somehow communicating with each other, how do they know what anyone besides them received? Email is a medium that lets you communicate one-on-one with thousands of people at the same time.

I agree with Alexa - you need at least one subscriber before you start marketing. Set up your sequence in whatever mix of content and promotion you wish, then deliver it the same way to each subscriber. Don't wait for some magic number - the first person on your was interested in what you offer then. Waiting until you hit some magic number means they may no longer be interested, and may even forget they signed up with you in the first place.

You should have already pre-loaded your auto-responder with messages that would go out to all your subscribers on complete auto-pilot.

It is not a good idea to wait for 100 people to be on your list. Start sending them emails right now.

When ever someone subscribes to your newsletter, the first email will be sent to them even if you are not online. If you allow a few days to follow and don't send your new opt ins an email, they will probably forget who you are and why you are emailing them.

List Building has exploded of course with good reason. We have all heard the "Money is in the List". There are hundreds of WSO's that scream Make $$$ with only a Small List and any other headline that you can imagine.

But even the people that take action to build a list don't really take the time to find out how they are going to make this money. Let me tell you!

ONE SALE AT A TIME. You have to coach your list to buy something. You are not going to just wake up and find $10k in yor paypal account.

You start with that very first subscriber. Understand they do not know nor do they care if they are #1 or #10000. As they sign up they are send your emails (that you should have preloaded to your Auto Responder). So over time as you add more subscribers you have several people at anyone time seeing one of your emails. Some are getting advice or information, some are getting offers. SO you are selling 24/7/365.

You will never make money without sales, believe me I know this I sell everyday. I am typing this right now from my sales job. Which my lists are on schedule to replace in just a few short moonths.

I hope this has helped a few people understand what we are really hoping to accomplish here.

    Good Luck.

Are they targeted? If so, you should start marketing right away.

If not, then delete the list and start over.
