A hosting .com.au question.

Hi All,

I have a potential client who wishes for me to take over the design and maintenance of a .com.au website. I currently have hosting with hostgator ( The baby croc plan ). Can I transfer any type of websiteto this hosting . Is there any disadvantage that the .com.au site will be hosted in the U.S.

Also they want the ability to be able to change things on this site ie ( Insert Pictures etc..)
What kind of hosting will allow me to give them access to the website maintenance.

Lastly they wish to sell things on this site so I will require a shopping cart system. I have never done anything like that before as I have been mainly doing affiliate markeing, so if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Thanks in Advance

    Hi Peter

You can not really do it with a croc plan as this is for hosting multiple sites of your own. You would need to upgrade to reseller account so the customer has their own cpanel etc.

As for the cart you could use Mals ecommerce for this as it is very good and give them the software which lets them track sales on their desktop. They can either do online or if they have their own merchant process manually.

You can learn all this in our DVD coaching course in the sig file below.

        Hi Mate,

You can host the webstie anywhere you like.

All you have to do is point to DNS to your
webhost...doesnt have to be an Australian
        web hosting company.

I'd choose the hostgator reseller option
so that they have their own separate
        logins.

        Hope this helps?

        Take Care,

I agree you really want a reseller account which offers WHM (web host manager) so you can create a separate cpanel account for them.

If that's all they need to do you don't need a reseller account.

Just give them an ftp account.

The only potential problems would be if and when there are connection problems between the US and Australia, which can happen.

It seems you don't have a reseller account at the moment? Why not get a free reseller account with Planet Domains at domains, an Australian company with US and Australian servers
