Do you think it is a sound decision for a foreign trading company to set up a company in China?

have a client which is a British trading company. The company has many suppliers in China. They are considering setting up a company in China, not manufacturing products, but dealing with China suppliers. Do you think generally speaking it is a good decision?

The idea is brilliant. The company need people there to take care of their business with supplier. Their process will become more efficient as they can buy from supplier and deliver to Britain themselves.

yes, it is a good Idea, but you would need a translator.
I have done a similar thing for one of my website that had a good potential in China, and I was lucky because my girlfriend is Taiwanese and a Chinese teacher and she helped me a lot.

You can find cheap and good translators in Thailand where we are living.

It's absolutely a good decision. I'm actually working for a Swedish owned trading company in China and to have an office in China is so much easier to have everything in control at supplier's side.

Of course it sounds like a good idea. UK based companies do have many offshore business as a branch.

Example: If UK based company is the main Hub for Business and operations purpose then surely to make the deals smoother in China, you can open up another one.

My Company here in the UK is registered for general trade. Slowly realized that for marketing material and raw products supplier, I have to find suppliers from Bangladesh and India. Had two other businesses opened and operating in a small scale to look after out sourcing + materials, local tax, export tax, quality control and many other aspect. Business dealings as well as reputation is slowly building up within and among countries.

Surely, a very good idea, in terms of business, marketing, taxation, reputation, reliability, quality control etc.

    Regards,
    Swrajit
