Should I go back to my job or leave?

I'm currently deciding whether I should go back to being a computer engineer, with late nights of work, up to midnight or longer or just rely on my affiliate sites (which aren't making any money yet)

They are set up with an auto responder series for a year and seo is outsourced, so I'm not sure if I should put my faith in them and just get off the job.

The initial reason why I left my job was because I was having a medical condition and the new job environment triggered my stress. Should I go back now to the late nights with a stable income or wait in faith for my affiliate sites to make me $?

I would wait until the income came in.. w/o using paid traffic, it's can take a while just to get enough traffic to tweek your opt-in, etc. for good conversion.

**edit** and if you rely on SEO, that requires content.. and the more content, the lower the opt-in rate.. and hence potentially an even longer time .

This is a little tough for me to talk about because I am not sure if what I am about to tell you is the way to go.

From your post, I see that you are not making enough money to stay at home full time. Your health is very important but at the same time you need money to survive.

Faith alone is not going to bring you the money that you need to have to eat and survive.

I would go back to work and at the same time, see the results that you are getting from your affiliate business. Work it hard and see what works best for you. Then when you are earning enough, then you can tell your boss that you are leaving.

It should be completely your decision but i will say stick with your affiliate and work for this only. It may give better earning than your job.

Solid advice above, none of us can survive without an income.

Is there any possibility of working part time, to cover your basic living expenses - that way you'll have some regular income, and can focus your days off on your business.

    Really wish you the best

maybe there is a less stressful job you could take instead of the one that causes stress.

i dont know how hard it would be for you, but i would scrap the autoresponder and learn to do seo yourself. if the autoresponder is costing you money, put that money into advertising instead.

make youtube videos as well. it's a faster way to earn some money in the short term. it won't be billions overnight, but money is money either way.

try to find a job relative to something you enjoy doing.

If your health has improved you can go back to your job while waiting for your affiliate site to start making money for you. You need money to buy your food and pay your bills. If your job requires you to work late into the night, then you must find time during the day to observe a good siesta to avoid jeopardizing your health again. When your affiliate site start making money for you, then you can decide to quite your job. Wish you Godspeed.

Any family? What about bills? Mortgage, automobile, etc...

Can your sites pay for the above?

If not I would definitely keep the job until you can earn the same or more.

Never put the family in jeopardy.

Your SEO has been outsourced for the past year to who? If you plan on making any money online you need your sites ready to convert traffic and that doesn't take a year if you hire a professional SEO firm. Go here ez-1.net/rank and enter the keywords you are supposed to be ranking for by now.

You don't have to pay anything until you're already ranked. That means they will tell you what changes to make on your site so it will rank or they don't get paid. That's called "perfomance based" services.

I retired in 2005 at 43 and now I give away websites like these for FREE [hosting excluded]

When you make at least $100+ per month, we split the profit 80/20 and YOU get the 80% Until then, you keep 100% and I'll help you drive traffic, get backlinks and put the domain in your name too!

I don't have any family to support. I would have to pay for my Im bills $300 a month and I have set aside 8 months for running seo on the site itself.

They are not making anything right now as they are pretty new, just started a month ago. If I can get $800 a month, it would cover everything including my expenses. I'm not sure whether I should go back to the job, find a new one or just waiting for returns.

Returns are NEVER guaranteed. You wouldn't be the first one to spend money and time on sites and never see a dime from them. You need a job that you only ditch when you actually are making a full time income and have enough savings in the bank to cover a year.

That decision is hard for any one else but you. I have no idea what your expenditure is each month but even if it is small, you still have to be able to buy food and have a roof over your head.
Is it possible for you to set up a home business to see you through until you start earning money from your affiliate sites?
Look at Elance and Odesk and see if you can get some work there.

Try doing some freelance work to get you over each month, until you start earning from your affiliate sites.

I second this idea. After all you are a computer engineer. Set yourself up on elance, Warriors for hire, digital point and freelancer. I'm sure your talents would be appreciated.

Ask your heart and choose path that you believe. It is not an easy task to be a successful internet marketer as you need to be strong physically and mentally.

My other suggestion is you should back to your job because from your situation i believe you are not ready to become a businessman yet.

Back up back up back up. See your internet success as a boat with a little hole that has the potential to sink your ship. You will always want another boat nearby, because once it does sink, you'll be gracefully rowing to your other ship. It's a great feeling security and stability.

    Go back to your job!

Really, if you are not making an income from your sites, then this is a no brainer!

Think about the impact on those around you (family) - you need an income first and foremost, so stick with your job, and wait until your sites are making money before you jump.

Faith doesn't pay the bills. I would never rely on something that hasn't happened for something as important as supporting yourself. Go back.

It sounds to me like you need a new employer rather than a new career. If you already have a job, even if it is a soul-destroying one, you will find it easier to get a new one, just pick a different employer.

Are you on Linkedin? If not, I can highly recommend it. Invest 3-4 hours in a complete and interesting online resume and join any groups that are involved in your field of interest. Also, connect to any IT recruiter you can find in your state or country. You are doing them a favour by connecting to them believe it or not.

As to affiliate marketing, from what I've seen it's a tough way to make a buck. For every person that makes decent money, there's thousands who struggle. Why not create your own product or service and get affiliates to sell that?

    Good luck with your quest

If your sites are not yet making any money and if quitting your job means you'll have no money and therefore cannot survive I think you better hold out at that job for a while longer. There's no guarantee your sites will make any cash. Best of luck though.

    Hi Bai_Mike!

If you can get anytime with your computer engineer job, I suggest that you wait until you received the results of your affiliate marketing campaign. Finish what you have started and live with the results. If it not goes well, just go with your other option or which way you enjoy best.
