Amazon Affiliates: What to prefer: Fixed or Volume based commission

Hi warriors,

I have started getting sales on my Squidoo lens. Don't worry! I am just split testing with only two lens and left them on auto pilot. This is the first instance, I am getting profits from amazon. You can't imagine my happiness. Was upset with IM but now, what a good way to start 2013. However, which is the best commission structure ?

TABLE 1 - Fixed Advertising Fee Rates for Specific Product Categories

OR

TABLE 2 - Volume-Based Advertising Fee Rates for General Products*

Presently, my Referral Rate is 6.00%, but it will drop once 12.am struck.

And, How to change the structure. The link to this commission structure source will be appreciated.

Can anyone answer my IM question. I want to know which table suits well for a newbie to maximize profits although it is very small amount. I am puzzled and expecting a quick as well as brief answer.

If you write for Squidoo you may be aware that you will get a commission but after Squidoo takes its 50% share. However it is safe to assume that Squidoo gets on the highest tier every month due to the sheer volume of Amazon sales taking place on its website which means that you will get more commissions than someone who may be starting off with his/her website.

On sales that you make through Squidoo's aff link, you will get 4.25%. With your own aff link if you can sell 7 items then you are already at 6% which is higher then you would earn on Squidoo.

I am selling products on Squidoo with my own affiliate links. Now my commission rate is 6.5%. Actually, I just tested with squidoo platform and I do not want to make it my primary source of income, as regularly warriors post here about lenses being locked by Squidoo officials.

There are some good answers above but I would also suggest that you look at a niche that interests you and one in which you are able to produce appropriate content. If you want a good conversion rate you need to understand your niche well before you start pitching products to them. Just my 2 cents.
