Same content on multiple blogs - yay or nay?

I have never actually done this before up untill yesterday.

Usually I write a great article, then rewrite that article for each blog I have.

Yesterday I was in a rush to get content up, because I was learning how to use a new piece of software I got. So I wound up uploading the same article to all 5 of my blogs.

Then an hour later I became rather paranoid.
And I started questioning if I should take them down.

So this is my question. And I'm really not looking for answers like "well you shouldn't do it, its not polite in googles eyes" etc etc. Not to sound rude, I'm just well aware that some people are against it, but many people still do it.

What I would really like to know is who has been penalized for stuff like this?
I'm using sites like wordpress.com, blogger, tumblr, live journal, etc. That all link to my site.
I'm thinking for the future, I should keep all content on my anchor sites 100% unique, then use the spun content for my second layer.

Thanks WF - Red

(update) just realized this is an SEO question, so this shouldn't be here.
Sorry mods. =]

    Ah shucks.

I think its time to invest in that dragon software then. I picked up thebestspinner yesterday but I also want that voice to text software too.

It takes me forever to write content, so I think a combination of both these tools will help me a lot.

    Thanks -Red
