how to build affiliate sites effectively?

Hi

I want to start with some affiliate sites, and many said every site need around 20-30 articles, 500 - 600 words with 1 or 2 review posts. Is this correct? What are the advantages and disadvantages if i do more than 30 articles or less than 10 articles?

And is this correct that i have to pay for writer 10$/article, total 300$ to have 30 articles live up on my site?

is there any other way to build up good content without paying much like that?

My best wishes for 2013

Thanks everyone

You could always write the articles yourself but you don't want to go the cheap route when it comes to your website. People aren't going to make purchases or follow your leads if the content looks unprofessional...

$10 is more than enough per article. When I'm feeling lazy, I use iwriter to find quality writers to create an article for me. I have five 4+ star writers saved in my account that write up excellent articles for me at no more than $9.50 per request.

Tip: If you use iwriter, i'd steer away from "basic" or sub 4 star writers for quality content. For me, positive experiences from Basic writers have been few and far between. Most are written with broken English and very poor sentence structure...or have been "spun".

        Best of luck!

The search engines prefer larger sites since they typically provide more value, but no one can give you an exact number. How soon you get ranked and start seeing traffic coming in has a lot to do with competition. How long it takes you to see sales depends a lot on how well your connect with your audience, targeting the right keywords and stuff like that.

Are you saying you've been told you need 20-30 informational articles with only 1 or 2 of them being review posts? That isn't true.

Well, it depends... If you want to create a niche based affiliate website for example - A website on weight loss supplements reviews, then you may need 20-30 different articles based on related long tail keywords/LSI keywords with in-depth reviews of different weight loss supplement products.

But if you want to create a review website based on any specific product name (affiliate product) then you can start with 5-6 articles only..

If i go with second option, is it possible to get first page ranking with only 5-6 articles? I assume that 5-6 articles on website and some posted on ezine, squidoo,..etc is that correct?

Every niche is different, some niches don't need a great deal of content while others need rake loads.

I have used iwriter in the past and was not impressed but I might just give them another go.

If I were you I would just keep adding content and building the site out and will work out for yourself what works in that niche.

Thanks, but do i have to pay every 10$/article to build content till it gets good ranking? Considering that investment would be a lot.

        Hi dklong,

Sounds like you are aiming to get your affiliate sites high on the first page of Google. In case which you'll likely to need that level of original content posted over several weeks.

However, if you draw traffic from social media sites, this could work for you without the need for such a large amount of content on your site. But this would depend on the niche you are marketing to.

For example, Pinterest is a good place to attract traffic for weight loss type products (particularly at this time of year), because it has a very high level of female participants.

        Warmest regards,

        Paul

Definitely not. Premium writers cost only $5 for a 500 word article Depending on the length, you could probably get away with a 300 word article at $4 even.

Hi, it's not really possible to know which writers that would be, as that's sort of a subjective question. I might think a writer is good, and someone else might not. I would just post a premium project and you're going to get good writers mostly. Save the best ones to your favorites list. As time goes by, you have your own list of writers that YOU think are good.

Premium writers? The review articles i've seen for $5 just read like a rehashed product description and are often riddled with bad grammar. No unique perspective or insight into the product at all. Where does one find an article from a premium writer for $5/ 500 words?

It depends on the writer entirely. Yes, there will be some that you think are bad. And some you think are very good. That's why we have the "favorite writers" option. So you can decide who you like and who you don't, all the while not paying for anyone you don't like. Rating them poorly, and getting them out of iWriter.

To answer your other question about "where does one find an article from a premium writer for $5/500 words". On the request page... That is the default price: 2013-01-02_0918 - callenb's library

    DK,

If there is one skill you must master as a marketer it is writing. Consider not outsourcing this and instead focus on writing every day. Everything comes down to how well you communicate with others.

It is really hard to just outsource all content creation (at least IMO) and understanding what words can persuade someone to buy through your affiliate links is what this is all about. If you don't know how to write and sell with your words how will you know the $10 an article writers are worth the money?

I would recommend going with an authority site that is rich with articles, images, videos and content. Build a list and carefully choose some quality products you feel your visitors will genuinely benefit from.

If you do this, you're building a real business. One that will survive algorithm updates and whatever other "new stuff" is about to hit us.

I'd also focus on just one niche and really have some success in it before branching out to others.

    Good luck.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. It's hard for me to play with words as i'm not a native english speaker but i may give a try and improve my writing skill day by day. I think i can start with email newsletter writing first and outsource all article writing taks. I can't judge the quality of article but i have a good friend he's writer from Canada who may help me to approve outsourcing content

I'd rather you focus more on quality than quantity. I used to go for numbers (more articles the better) too. However, I'll be the first to tell you that it didn't work out well at all.

Quality content is the foundation of great blog. Without quality content, you'll definitely not build up a great blog (unless you blog specialize in photos, videos etc), perhaps mediocre at most.

To be honest if you can't justify spending $300 then should look at getting the articles written yourself. If you struggle then maybe look getting dragon naturally speaking as things a great way to create good quality content and very quickly....

...remember to add your articles in a timely manner - don't post all your 20-30 articles in a day or week. I would probably use that kind of content in a couple of months. Just because Google likes that kind of content delivery. Hope all works out for you.

Yes, there is. You can try iWriter (article writing services) or you can hire people from Odesk or Freelancer to write articles for you for a certain amount. You can negotiate the price with the writer.

Choose a niche that you are good at it. For example, if you are good in photography, build a site reviewing photography lenses etc and write the articles yourself instead of hiring writers.Hope that helps.Cheers
