First step in finding connections with affiliate marketers...

I'm a developer and somewhat new to marketing. I hear going on blogs and forums inside your niche is great in building relationships with people inside your niche. Where and how do you go about finding and building relationships with marketers?

    Thomas,

Your post is rather unclear, unless I'm reading it wrong. I think your asking where to find other marketers to learn from? Well here on the WarriorForum is a great place to learn. I'm sure that helping others can unveil some of the most profitable techniques from others that you can gather and build your business.

People don't usually 'Openly' say their exact niche. Why? because it gives away their business, in a very competitive race.

I'm guessing that you are asking about where you can find people to promote your stuff and I'll give you the answer.

First, do something for them first. Most of the affiliates out there (the ones you want anyway) will NEVER promote something from someone they don't know. I'm putting my name on a product and sending it out to my list - I have to know you will treat my audience right and that your products good! Sure, you could probably get some people to put up review sites or whatever but that's not what you are looking for. You want true JV partners and the only way to get that is to establish a relationship with them based on trust.

Second, give them plenty of notice. If someone writes me an email or skype and says "I'm launching a product in 3 days. Can you mail for it?" I probably won't even answer. JV partners who are worth having usually schedule out at least a month in advance. These are the people you want to work with because they are actually building and running a company as opposed to just making money here and there.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for your replies... I knew trust is key for starting & growing relationships. And thanks for your tips about affiliate marketers because this something I'm trying to learn about. I didn't know great marketers set up their promotions an month out.

Are there anything else that I should know about when seeking great matches with jv partners?

A month is usually the quickest scheduling you'll get. I know people who are already scheduling mailings, launches, webinars for June.
