Amazon commission dropped from 7.50% back to 4.00% ?!?

Hi,

I started promoting Amazon items as an associate/affiliate for almost a year ago and in December 2012, I had increased my commission percentage to 7.50%. My commission percentage had climbed up from 3.97 from when I started to 7.50% in December 2012. But now, January the 2'nd 2013, my commission percentage has fallen down back to 4.00% again  Why & how on earth can my beloved commission percentage drop back to the level where I started?

The commission percentage has never dropped back before so why now? Is it because it's a new year or what?

I'm confused,

Jimmy

That's just how it works.. it resets at the beginning of each month.

Thank you, but I've never experienced that the commission percentage has been reset at the beginning of a new month before.

You have enrolled in the performance related plan with Amazon. These means that you start every month at 4% and as you sell more items during the month it increases. It resets to 4% at the start of every month.

    Hi

It the commission rate doesn't rise over time, it is applied to the sales each month.

Since it is only January 2nd, it is unlikely you have sold enough volume to show over 4%.

By the end of January, if you maintain your monthly sales volume, you should see the commission % rise as you hit required volume levels.

Unless you mean your last check was for 4% when you had enough volume for 7.5%.

Promote more of lower priced products at the beginning of the month so that you gain enough volumes to upgrade your commission tiers.

Yes, I know the feeling. :p

It resets, Jimmy. You have to make a certain number of sales per month, every month, to qualify for higher commission levels.

I have a couple of little sites (which I wouldn't bother with at all, apart from for this reason) one selling books and CD's, and the other one assorted gifts - really low-cost stuff that's trivially easy to sell in large numbers to almost any literate traffic at all - and I just send all my traffic from all my other niches there (so I don't even have a pen-name/admin-name on the sites, because I use different pen-names in different niches). But that easily keeps me qualified in terms of "sales per month". It serves no other purpose at all, though: the commissions from those sites, per se, aren't really worth talking about at all! But they do qualify me for the highest commissions on the "real stuff" I also promote. You could try something like this?

They count your sales for each month.
