Appraisals on domains

Hello WarriorForum,

I have purchased several domains at a very low-rate price from a friend of mine whom is selling domains. I bought them to one help him out financially and two for my own sake.

I would just like to have an idea on the price range that these domains can be sold for or if these domains are worthy enough to start a website from.

Domains are as listed:
Silver.ly
Technology.ly
Proxy.ly
Medicine.ly
Entertainment.ly
Electronic.ly
mp3.ly

Keep in mind that these are all domains that are under my friend at the moment but I do have full ownership to.

How much could these be worth if anything?

Well you have some good 1 word keywords but since they are .ly and country specific to Libya. I would start doing some research for whats selling in Libya for your domain name topics to get an idea about how you could build a site.

Ex: mp3.ly - have a blog that promotes popular music in Libya with ads for downloads and use YouTube to help increase traffic ??? Just an idea

Well keep in mind with a .ly extension you are specifically targeting the population of Libya a .com can be worldwide so yes I'd say .com is better (just my opinion)

As far as SEO ranking, 1 word keywords are going to be extremely difficult due to such a high amount of competition. Just because you have a EMD does not mean you'll get anywhere close to page 1 especially on Google.

My suggestion - Get some content to build a site & sell it then go after less competitive keywords

Yeh I see what you mean, so Im guessing I would be best off selling domains instead of using for personal use.

I'd say so, but obviously its up to you. If your trying to learn the ropes they might be good to build up just to test and figure IM out a bit more. However, there are still a lot of ways to get traffic that has nothing to do with SEO. Using the mp3 example from earlier ... if you build that site you could easily find blogs, forums, and article directories about Libyan Music that you can backlink to and receive traffic you just need to make sure your content rocks!

I would like to jump on the bandwagon here and ask if there is anyone who can tell me if the domain I own trsc,co has any real value?

I bought it believing the .co domains would eventually be rated the same as a .com domain (can't recall where I read that.).

I have never managed to get it ranked, but if it held any value, I would try again.

Thank you for any reply and good luck in 2013 with your marketing endevours.

The extension makes them difficult to sell. I know of few to none that would want a .ly domain unless it were something cool that they could use like bit.ly.

Yeh so Im guessing the name doesnt mean much unless its targetted within the country. It could be useful if the domain was hosting good content like bit.ly which targets users to come back.

Well look at your domain names, they are very general terms. This could be excellent if you want to build a huge authority site. Imagine having a 4000 page site about technology ... how much money could you make?
