Vimeo Pro vs Amazon S3 for Membership site

After looking into this for a while, I figured it wouldn't hurt to bring this up with you guys!

Which one do you think is the better deal, and provides the better value. From the looks of it, Amazon S3 is cheaper but more work than Vimeo's Pro account for the annual 199 cost.
What are some of your thoughts on this, when building a video membership site?

    Hi tonylee,

You might also like to investigate Screencast.com, which is run by Techsmith - the Camtasia guys.

They claim to deliver your videos in the format best suited to whatever the viewer is using: laptop, desktop, iPad et cetera.

I use them to run virtually all the videos on my membership site (and there are a LOT), without any problems.

You get 2 GB of storage and 2 GB bandwidth every month with the free account.

If you want more, you can upgrade to a paid account for about $15 a month. That gets you 25 GB of storage and 200 GB of bandwidth a month and you can top that up even more if necessary (you can monitor usage at any time).

    Warmest regards,

    Paul

I did a research on this before and I decided to go for vimeo pro. Not sure if that's the best decision I've ever made but I can say it is pretty user-friendly and have fast loading speed (incredibly fast, I'm happy with the result).

Able to add my logo at the bottom right of the video is also a plus.

Vimeo pro allows only up to 250,000 video plays.. And it's way cheaper if you compare it with amazon S3. I don't know exactly how much S3 will charge for 250,000 video plays (I'm not a tech expert) but I'm quite certain it's way more than $199.

This is just based on my own opinion. The decision is still ultimately yours

Is that 250,00 plays per month or lifetime?

I'd be interested to see if anyone has done an exact pricing comparison between Amazon S3, Vimeo Pro, and Screencast.com.

Ya i'd recommend vimeo pro. Amazon s3 is a bit of a hassle. I know someone who uses screencast.com too so I'm assuming it's just as good as vimeo pro and might work out to being a bit cheaper too

I use amazon s3 for all my vids but I have moved away from using it for anything but membership content.

I still see my vids pirated and I'm paying for it. See it's impossible to keep someone from copying your video, all you have to do is boot camstudio or tasia up and do a screen capture.

That's just for the personal version. Vimeo Pro is for business.

If your membership site is mostly screen tutorials, why not use Screen-O-Matic.com. $15 bucks for a year to host your videos. I use it for my website.... no problems.

Amazon S3 is a little slow at times... haven't tried Vimeo Pro
