My new plan for 2013... What do you think?

I have been in the internet marketing game for a couple years now and have done website stuff for past 5 or 6 years. For the past couple years I have always been after that magic button that makes you thousands of dollars with hardly any work, but I am putting this behind me in 2013 and taking a more white hat and honest approach to making my online earnings.

2013 Changes:
1. Stop trying to take the easy way out
2. Start using a more white hat approach to SEO (already have my strategy made!)
3. Create website niches that you are passionate about and can keep updated and build an audience around
4. Focus more on larger projects
5. Expand and find new ways of traffic generation
6. Create and sell a product or service around a niche I like
7. Stop giving up on something before it has the chance to generate income

I believe with these changes, It will take longer to generate more income, but in the long run that income will be much greater than it could even been before.

What are your thoughts and plans for 2013?

That is not a plan, that is a set of goals that you want to acheive by the end of this year. A plan is something which is highly detailed, for example...

I have a website about weight loss, within the next day I will have generated myself a list of 10 forums which are highly active, facebook groups, yahoo groups, linkedin and all these other various sources where I can get involved in a community.

Day 2 I would have created accounts for each of these, got my website up and fully optimized it for the search engines.

    Day.......

You get my drift, you need to really narrow down your plan, go into some insane detail, put the prep work in, that way you are not woundering about thinking what will I do this morning. Trust me, putting in the preperation before hand will save you a lot more time in the long run. Good luck .

I think you have made the best decision of your life.

The quick easy way of doing things just doesn't cut it in anything in life.

Think about it. 99c McDub thrown together or a 5 star gourmet burger that took 40 mins and a lot of prep and marinade. You get the idea.

McDubs sell, but the gourmet burger is just a damn good burger and good people like good things.

One thing that is becoming more apparent in the IM specifically is Googles crack down on junk search results. There are still plenty of people out there that will buy and sell the latest get rich now doing nothing with blackhat and junk methods. However the merchants of these evermore increasingly bad products with outdated methods wont cut it nowadays, in the IM world most specifically.

I think you are living a plan right now.

Day 1: Find out all the things I did wrong in 2012, and change them.

Day 2: Get some advice from fellow Warriors. Apply the advice.

Day 3: Is up to you...

If you decide to use SEO as your main traffic strategy for 2013, you must focus SEO to maximum results include traffic and earning. Because SEO effort is very time consuming.

Don't put all eggs into one basket, better to put all eggs into few basket. This law applied to SEO.

    e.g:

Create 10 SEO projects which each project is 500 searches/mo.

    10 projects x 500 searches = 5,000 searches/mo.

This better than create 1 SEO project that has 5,000 searches/mo.

My goal for this year is simple. Help as much people as possible to quit their full-time job by generating multiple streams of income working from home.

Your goals are great. You just have to stick with them. Focus on 1 goal at a time helps too

Firstly , making a decision to go in a certain direction is a huge step in the right direction, I must agree with the comment " thats not a plan " what it is ,is a strategy, and you need to put a plan up behind it. Just be sure you are taking the right steps within that plan to achieve the results. I really do wish you every success as I , ( and probably ) everyone else here has been where you are right now. Tip, dont overload yourself, and get support, from experience when you go it alone it can all get a bit much, internet marketing can if you are not careful become a hugely frustrating and lonely place to be, which is maybe why so many give up. Again the very best of luck

This is important - it's all about quality and time spent - do something to be proud of and something which will last in the long term.

My plan is to stick to whatever plans or strategies I have, only making changes to the plans when there are changes elsewhere such as big Google changes or when things start to head south in terms of my traffic and conversions.

Really glad to see these on your list.

#1 on your list is the reason why most people do #2 wrong and go black hat.

If you put the effort in then you'll always reap the benefits and going white hat is the way you will need to go to get ahead.

The best way to think about this is to look at user experience and when it comes to SEO don't build links; build relationships because you'll get the most long term gain doing things like this.

I have a similar plan because staying focused is one of the things I'm having difficulty with. To help me stay focused and to keep me from getting frustrated, I'm thinking of setting weekly, attainable goals. I'm setting how much writing I need to get done, how many links I need to create etc. I make sure they're realistic and attainable. That way I'll feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of the week and I'll feel motivated the following week because I know I've done well the previous week.

11 Steps To Creating The Perfect Business Plan

What should a business plan cover?

    That's the million dollar question.

For one thing, it should offer a thorough analysis of the need for the particular product or service you are planning to offer. It also needs to talk about how you are qualified to be making such an offering to the public.

A business plan should address your strategies in terms of production and marketing, how you will be organized, any legal aspects that you must address, and what your accounting methods will be. In short, a business plan should address the following questions:

    * What do I want and what am I capable of doing?
    * What are the most workable ways of achieving my goals?
    * What can I expect from the future?

Keep in mind that there is not one specific format that you should use, or one best way to lay out your business plan. However, there are some steps you can take to make the process go a little more smoothly; we've listed what we think is the easiest method, below.

Step 1: Making the Commitment - be sure that you desire to work for yourself is truly greater than you desire to work for someone else.

Step 2: Analyze yourself - list your strengths and weaknesses. Determine how you can build off your strengths, and improve on your weaknesses. Remember, this can be a daunting task because you may have to own up to a few shortcomings you're not prepared to recognize!

Step 3: Choose a Product or Service - this sounds silly, but just because you think you know what business you want to be in, it doesn't mean your idea will be a profitable one. Take a look at the feasibility of your idea.

Step 4: Research Your Market - marketing research is crucial to the success of any business, large or small. The more you know about your potential market, the greater your chances of securing the customers you want, right out of the gate, and that means making a profit.

Step 5: Forecast Your Sales Revenue - after you take a look at the market your product is best suited for, estimate the percentage of that market that you think you will reasonably be able to take over. Take in to account the number of your competitors, their size, and the amount of market they already have. It is important to be realistic during this exercise.

Step 6: Choose a Location - is your new business going to be on the web? Or will you have a retail storefront? Will you consult out of your home office? Be careful to weight both your personal preferences and what makes the most sense for the ultimate success of your business. You might like the idea of working in your pajamas every day, but if your shingle needs to be seen by the public for maximum growth potential, a home office might not be your best option.

Step 7: Develop a Marketing Plan - here you will be forced to detail you plan to gain customers, and turn a profit. Discuss possible marketing channels, price points, advertising, and sales promotion.

Step 8: Develop an Organizational Plan - what skills and talents do your new business need to not only survive, but to grow as well? If you don't have all these traits, how are you going to get them in the door? Will you hire freelancers? Are you hoping to bring on an employee right away? If these individuals, and their skill sets, are vital to your success, do not make a plan without them!

Step 9: Decide on Your Status - sole proprietor? Partnership? You need to decide how you're going to approach this, and investigate the legal ramifications of each situation. As a sole proprietor, you're in control, but you're also solely responsible. In a partnership, you share the responsibility, but you also share the decision making and the profits. What works best for your budget AND your personality?

Step 10: Address Your Accounting - if you don't know how much money is coming in and out of your business, you will never know if you are making a profit, or if you need to make changes. Keeping track of your numbers is one of the single most important things you can do for your business. Decide on whether you will do it in house, or outsource it to a professional; if you take care of it yourself, decide on what software you will use.

Step 11: Put it All into Numbers - this may or may not be necessary for you; it depends on what type of business you are starting. When you approach a financial institution for a small business loan, they will respond better if they see all of your plans in numbers; they are, after all, in the business of numbers. So, go back through all the above steps, and assign dollar amounts to what you can; when you approach the bank, you can tell them exactly how much you need, and show them where their money will be going. You can then show them, with a number, how much of the market you are planning to corner, and your growth, by percentage, over the next X years.

That's it - wasn't so hard after all, was it?
