Email List for Product Review Sites?

How do you build an email list for a product review site?

I have been delaying this for a while since I really don't understand how to give value to the subscriber. Both on the sign-up part as well as through the weekly emails.

I understand how this works in niches such as marketing, personal development and fitness, where people love to read and study the field.

How can I make an interesting angle for a product affiliate site? I do get emails from Amazon, but never open them. It probably work for them, but I will never get subscribers in those numbers.

My website reviews around 50 different kitchen accessories from coffee mugs to blenders and foodprossesors. Traffic is mostly from SEO.

Any tip would be helpfull! Also please provide links if this have been asked 100 times before.

    1. Set up an opt-in page offering something of value. Create value by simply stating they will get X if they just enter their email. Something that pertains to products and reviews. Make sure your offer is of quality however.

    2. Begin driving attention to your new review website on your current website, with a link to the opt in page. This is where the free offer is important.

    3. Once you have a list begin to RESPECTFULLY drive them to your reviews and from there through to your affiliate links.

This is just a basic thought on the matter. I'm sure more Warriors will be around to give you some more advice

    Good Luck!

Are you asking what you can put in the emails? Kitchen appliances and such really lend themselves to cooking and recipes! Send out emails every week with new recipes that use specific appliances; drinks that are specific to the season in hot/cold mugs; chocolate fondue recipes for that new fondue maker.

The people you are marketing to are purchasing so they can use the appliance - show them how! Buy on emotion - recipes with great pictures of the food - justify on logic - give them a logical reason that making this at home will improve their parties, save them money cause they aren't hitting Starbucks each day, etc.

Thank you Joshua! It is the "X" or free offer I struggle with + what type of content to keep my subscribers engaged.

My goal for 2013 is to get 100 more reviews on the page and also to write some "how to" articles related to the reviews.

I recon I could email out the how to articles and mix it up with notifications of discounts and shopping guides related to different holidays etc.

I would love to hear some feedback from those who have experience with product review email marketing.

Your very welcome. I don't claim to be a guru and know it all but I do know the basics of the sales and leads process. Mostly thanks to the great Warriors on this forum.

What I would recommend is taking a look at business trends for 2013. Get an idea of what is coming up that you just haven't heard about yet.

I think one of the biggest failures in any endeavor is being a day late and a dollar short. Find out whats hot that you can promote.

Recipes is a great idea! I already syndicate recipes to my backlinking network.

Never thought of implementing them in the emails. I probably have to start to do some cooking myself!
