Question about bounce rates

Hi guys,

I recently logged into both my Google analytics and Clicky (another web analytic tool) account but I was surprised to see such a big difference in stats.

Google Analytics (over last 30 days):

Bounce rates: 67% (very bad imo)
Average time: 1 Minute 47 Seconds

Clicky (over last 30 days)

Bounce rates: 27%
Average time: 2 Minutes 56 Seconds

I was surprised to see such a big difference. Its a pretty big discrepancy.

Does anyone has the same problem or is it just me?

It's not just you. There was a similar thread about a month or so ago. I seem to remember the consensus was to use GA and another tracker to get some kind of average. Something like that.

The thing about GA is it's JS based, so it will not track everyone. Some browsers auto disable JS.

Sounds like the other tracker you use may be more accurate.

I actually implemented some code into my sites so that google analytics would be more accurate.

It was amazing to see my bounce rate go from 40% to 6% almost over night lol

I'll try to find the site I got the code off of and I'll send you the URL.

    What is "JS"?

I use statcounter more than GA. I find the interface easier, and really, who cares which one is more accurate? It's like testing bodyfat: you don't know whether your bodyfat is really X% or Y%, and it doesn't matter. What matters is whether the number goes in the right direction once you start dieting and exercising.

Whatever type of analytics you use, you should use them all the time in order to have consistency when you make changes to your website so you can see if they're good or bad. But I wouldn't worry much about the exact number.
