I have a lot of PLR eBooks and articles sitting on my Hard Drive. Some are good and others are rubbish. Is there any eBooks or courses available on rewiting PLR? I came across Jeremy Burns nakedplr.com but it appears that he has sold the site.

My instinct is to say don't.

That said, if you have to do it, try to get the main points, and get a basic understanding of each one, then rewrite based on structuring those, rather than rewriting it all the way through.

Also, if you're not a native English speaker, especially do the latter. I've read some incredibly bad stuff that was an obvious rewrite. It's much better to get at least a basic understanding of every point that you're dealing with and then to write in a holistic way rather than just rewriting each sentence.

I disagree because I base my response on experience, not instinct!

I have created dozens of products using PLR and created many products on how to use PLR and done many coaching sessions on this topic. How many times have you done any of these?

Don't pat yourself on the back and try to take credit for my posts. You vaguely suggested they rewrite it without really adding anyway to help them. I must have missed the part in your post where you gave advice on how to increase the value of the end product...

Don't waste time or try to inflate your post count by saying you already said what I said or that you "think" we said the same thing...

If that's the case - everyone that has replied after you has more or less said the same thing as you...

The difference is each of those folks added value to the thread by giving suggestions and not just stating the obvious.

Make your posts count - this forum is full of non-sense already. Try to add value or don't bother - it just hurts the community.

Just thought I should point that out to you since you haven't been a member here that long.

      Cheers,

I have to disagree with RobeStrong...

I think PLR is a valuable part of an internet business...

BUT - You must use it correctly!

Don't re-hash PLR - but instead use it as an "outline" to structure your product. Use it for research and inspiration.

A lot of times just going through PLR and correcting the errors and doing some minor re-writing in the process will be enough to give you a pretty nice product to work from.

The key is to add value.

You can add more value by using the finished product and turning it into Mp3's and Mp4's and mindmaps. This increases the perceived value of the product and will help it stand out from similar products.

I have a product on this - but I'm not going to post the link as I don't want to self-promote it, but you can search the WSO section and you will find it along with many others that would help you.

    Hope this helps

    Cheers,
    Coby

PLR = private label rights. Why do you want to rewrite PLR ebooks? If you buy PLR ebooks, so you have right to promote PLR ebooks under your name. So why this called as PLR.

If you think a PLR ebook is not good to sell, you search better PLR ebook to buy or hire someone to write a new ebook for you.

I'm assuming he wants to re-use the content for his own products, posts, etc. Also he said some of the PLR is rubbish so he wants it to be more readable.

That being saidn just use the core items of the content then write it in your own words. Alternatively, there are services that will re-write it for you.

I have a lot of PLR too just sitting on my hard drive. Too many too count and have no idea what to do with it all. I do agree that you can rewrite it but not word for word.

It will definitely be more beneficial to give it a fresh spin.

I've always liked the idea of bringing together similar PLR and making it into a longer article. Maybe you may want to try that and let us know how it works out for you

    To your success,

If you're going to use PLR content, the first step would be to make sure you're using high quality PLR content. If you start off by using weak PLR content, then you're going to end up spending a whole lot more time and effort working on that PLR content, than if you started with high quality PLR content.

There's probably a lot of ways to approach rewriting PLR content and it all depends on the person. Some may only change words here and there. Some may choose to only rewrite parts of the content. Some may only use the content as an outline or starting point and completely rework the content... adding more value, their personality, a different perspective etc.

So, there's lots of ways that you could approach rewriting PLR content. But, don't just aim to rewrite the content. Focus on adding more value to the content.

As far as advice on rewriting PLR content goes, Easy PLR has a short video over here, on one way to approach rewriting PLR content.

There are many ways to use PLR without rewriting it a bit, but that's only if the original product is very well-done. Most of the time, no matter how you use it, it's better to make it uniquely yours by adding in your own thoughts and experiences, and putting it into your own voice.

That being said, the first thing I would recommend to you is to toss the badly written PLR straight into the recycle bin. There's far too much good stuff out there to try to rescue crap. Toss it and keep note of who you buy from in the future so you'll know who the good producers are.

If you want to do the least amount of actual rewriting, try 'nichifying' the product. For example, if you have a book on battling procrastination, turn it into 'Ending Procrastination Once and For All - A Gude for Authors' or 'A Guide for Affiliate Marketers' - aim it squarely at a smaller market instead of the world in general.

Change the title and graphics, at the very least. You don't want to be selling the same product as a hundred other marketers, do you? Change it up and add extra value that's unique to your product.

Add value by adding content specific to whatever niche you are targeting. Things like step-by-step checklists, mindmaps, organizational tools, spreadsheets - these are ways to add value for your customers. This will help you stand out from all the people who are too lazy to bother making any changes at all and thus have to resort to selling their PLR products for pennies.

If you want to learn one good way to rewrite PLR, read this thread from Tiffany Dow. There are other methods, as well, but this is one you should have in your arsenal. Most of us use a combination of techniques.

Here's an easy way to do it. Copy/paste the PLR (either an ebook or report or several related articles) into a worddoc. Use the tools there to summarize high points of the material by 50-70%.

Then use the highlighted sentences that result and rewrite the stuff quickly in your own words.

I use that when I have a bunch or PLR articles on a topic and no one of them has enough "meat" to satisfy me. I end up with a quick, longer article that includes the high points.

Sometimes it takes longer to rewrite a bad article than to just start from scratch. Try timing yourself when rewriting to see if working with the bad articles are even worth your time.

It may help you to rewrite phrases within sentences. For example, if I were to rewrite that sentence I just wrote, I would start by changing "It may help you" to "You might benefit from" and continue on with the rest of the sentence in the same way. Give it a try - I think it's a quick and easy way to edit PLR that I want to make unique.

You kind of need to be a decent writer to do this, at best.

The most effective tips I can offer you are:

Never rewrite any PLR material sentence for sentence. Eliminate anything that is unnecessary or could be classified as "filler" content. Add more meat to the parts that seem sparse. Combine two ideas into one sentence instead, when it reads better that way.

Any writing that compares two things or gives specific examples of something should be replaced with new concepts that you either think of yourself or discover upon further research of the topic.

Always sprinkle a few facts, figures and other notes into the material to make your writing more unique and credible.

I think PLR has great value, because the research has been done for you. You don't have to sell PLR to get value out of them. You don't even have to rewrite them, you could use the strong points to write your own content with it.

I learned a long time ago when doing journalism that you can rewrite almost anything and make it your own.

    I used the 'precise' technique.

Mark the keywords in every paragraph and then using them write a 'shorter' paragraph. The original meaning will still be there.

It is much easier than you may think.

    Hi Dacia

I would ask one question first. Is your rewriting for yourself or do you wish to sell your rewrites?

Like you I have a load of PLR on my hard drive infact I used to be a paid member of plr memberships to get top quality plr every single month.

There is a lot of good material in plr and it helps you provide the 'container' or 'structure' for your information. You can add or subtract from the material, add a few images, change the format from ebook to audio and so on. Essentially it sometimes beats creating an ebook from scratch. Saves time on research. Helps if you know your subject so you can make it unique to you.

In that regard plr is cool. In my experience (I have been using my own rewriting strategies to make a bit of money and at some point I intend to put together a 'how to' product on it.

One thing I would advice is that you get rid of poor quality plr. Cheap plr is all over the net but they are often poorly written and in poor English and just plain hard work to rewrite as you end up spending time trying to find out exactly what the writer had in mind. That's a time waster!

For now and in answer to your question I can say there are some resources on re writing plr by Warrior Peggy (Google something like how to rewrite plr) and another by John Schwartz (I don't know if he still sells his).

You can PM them or me if you need more help.

    I hope this helps.

If you have poor quality plr, trash it.

With the good stuff, sort through each ebook's table of contents and see where you can mix chapters together from a variety of similar ebooks and create a new ebook out of it.

Then change the cover, Title, chapter titles...

You now have a new ebook. If you want to take it further, then add some original content in there or rewrite the existing content.

If you are thinking of using the content out of an ebook for web content (blog posts or whatever), and if you care about your status in Google search, don't use ebook content or plr articles for that.

Starting off with high quality is an absolute necessity. Otherwise it is far more work that its worth. A little over three years ago, I paid $50 for a quality PLR ebook from a member here on Warrior Forum. I reworded a few things so that it would pass on Amazon...and I have made $500 to $600 per month for over three years without doing a single thing more to it.

I like PLR if its good quality. To make it good, think of it as an outline...and consider your job as filling in the blanks. This ends up giving you a quicker and easier way to create your own unique product.

When I end up with crap PLR, I immediately cut my losses and move on. If not, you'll be spinning your wheels.

I don't know of any courses that teach how to rewrite PLR. Again, use the PLR as an outline, do some research on the main points and fill it in.

Because (with a few notable exceptions), I'd be embarrassed to have my name associated with the PLR I've accumulated. 95% of what I have ranges from totally bland to outright garbage. I keep some of it to serve as bad examples. Of the remaining 5%, maybe 1-2% is usable as-is. The rest can be reasonably edited.

In most cases you should rewrite PLR or have someone else rewrite PLR. Now, if you are using it for product creation, you do not always have to re-write it. For example, in an ebook using PLR as is might be fine. However, to post on your website, it is not unique.

I was thinking of taking a few ideas from each one and creating a few new e-books to sell. Would that be something that could be done? Make it all my own words and rather than rehashing come up with new ideas and use the books as an outline?

Why not decide what it is you want and get someone who knows the subject to write for you?

No kidding but if you do not have an input in the plr content or structure then it is not for you and will more than likely not meet your purposes.

PLR products can be an extremely valuable resource in making your own products if you know how to think outside the box in the way you present it.

Don't just take a PLR product, slap your name on it and call it a day.

Instead, make a course, videos, reports, and do some re-editing to the PLR to put your own twist on it. The sky is basically the limit.

My next WSO has quite alot of PLR in it, but I've literally modified so much of it that it's probably going to blow away my previous WSO in terms of originality and value. It's just taking so long since I have to manually rewrite and add my own things, but the end result will definitely be worth it.

For me personally, I will like to read through the PLR material and add in my own points. I will also correct or update the content if necessary so that the reader will get more value out of the ebook.

If you don't want to sell PLR as it is, then using it is a great starting point for creating your own content. There are so many ways you can use it. The research is done and the content is there. Take that, add you thoughts/experiences, enhance it (or make it relevant to current rules) and you could end up with a nice profit sucking WSO!!
