Which is the Best WordPress Framework for creating an Authority blog ?

I am thinking of buying a premium WordPress framework for creating authority blogs. I am shopping around and came across CopyBlogger's Genesis Framework. Its is sold for 59 bucks ..do you think its overpriced ? If you were in my position what other cheaper or free but well optimized frameworks would you consider?

I use and recommend Canvas from Woothemes. I haven't used Genesis but Canvas looks to provide more options for layout (but it's a little more expensive). If you're only developing one site and you don't need different layouts you might find that a specific theme suits your needs better and at a lower price.

I do not believe Genesis is overpriced. A one-time purchase you can use the theme for unlimited sites. All you need to do is purchase a $25 child theme for each other site.

It depends on your application but I really like the Genesis theme because it's simple, yet with added Studiopress plugins you can customize your site as much as you want. It also has an import/export feature so you can create a template of the theme settings and import them into another site. A big time-saver if you work with multiple sites.

Here is a video review I uploaded a few days ago. It may help with your decision.

You don't need a framework. There are many free magazine themes out there. For my about.com type blog which has over 1000 blog posts, I use a free theme.

I like Genesis and use it on many sites. It's a good deal for me.

However, you don't have to use Genesis or any paid theme if you don't want to. I started with StudioPress a few years ago because I became annoyed with free themes.

I wouldn't get too wrapped up about your theme. Pick something that will do the job, start making serious money, then tinker with design.
