I know the domain is the most important factor of ranking any website. Do you think some domain prices can be exaggerated ? What factors influence the price of a domain ?

Can someone enlighten me on how the domain prices are determined. Look at this Example :

#$34 #$34k #domain #priced #selling

Not at all. It would be WAY down the list of importance.

Do you think some domain prices can be exaggerated ?
    Of course.

A lot of the "valuations" are done automatically and don't reflect reality.

What factors influence the price of a domain ?
    1. A desirable domain name
    2. The age of the domain
    3. Whether the domain has an existing website
    4. If the website on the domain is generating a steady income
    5. Future potential

I think you'd get a lot of argument on that statement.

My personal belief is that your content, backlink quality and quantity, site structure, reputation in your niche and other things combine to far outweigh the domain name.

BTW, in my opinion, you could find a similarly good domain for under $10 if you do a little digging. This is available: seehowtogetpregnant.com I just saved you $34,367.00!

Interesting to have a 12 yr old domain on an evergreen topic - and the content appears to be porn.

You are wrong. Domain name is not the MOST IMPORTANT factor to rank a site... You can have a very good domain but if you do not have good content and backlinks you do not get ranked.

Not even close: it's a long way down on the list of what's important.

people selling keyword tools lead you to believe that domain name is the most important factor in keyword optimization. Especially when they highlight their domain availability feature.

Branding and brand relevance in keywords also help with the desirability of the domain.
Say if a pharmaceutical company came out with a medication that helped people get pregnant. The $35k domain might draw their interest and they could negotiate a deal.

"how to get pregnant" has 27,100 exact match local searches per month and 500k+ global. that also adds to the domain value

another thing is that something is only worth what people are willing to pay for it. Just because their asking 35k don't mean it's worth that much to you and I.

Doesn't matter what we on a forum think the domain name is worth. People do pay a lot of money for a domain https://flippa.com/2841427-weddingvo...ss-opportunity

You're not thinking like a business owner. How much money can a domain with that name bring in over the next year - 2 years - 3 years?

Here in the USA, imagine an MD - a fertility doctor - Once the website sends two new couples, the doc will have the cost of that domain name paid. It's all gravy after that.

Surely there must be good business if someone will pay that for a domain

Some people will pay a lot of money for a fashionable, prestigious, or cool brand name or license plate, and the same applies to a domain name.

I think the value of that domain comes from the keywords in it. It is self explanatory, so it will get more clicks...

It's not a valuation system. It can be listed at any price under 50k at gd. There are tons of domains sold over 30k.

With the newest google update, EMD is a lot less in value, infact the "edge" it used to give websites is almost down to zero. With good backlinks, content and design a website can outrank those that are EMD.

As they always say on the show 'Pawn Stars', is $34,377 the asking price or the price someone actually paid? There is a BIG difference. People can ask whatever they want for a domain but the domain is not worth that amount of money until someone is actually willing to pay it.

I watch that show from time to time and I have to agree, you can ask for any price but it doesn't validate that value until someone has paid that price.

I don't believe Google considers the primary words in a domain name at all. For instance; what has the word ebay got to do with auctions? What has the word Amazon got to do with books? There are millions of examples like this. What matters in ranking is quality content and incoming links.

I love it when people use the word premium to describe a long tail keyword domain. That's not a premium domain. Just a premium price. Would I pay it for that domain. Not in a million years. Google is not placing importance on exact match keywords in domains any longer, so that's no longer an advantage.

The domain is not the most important factor for ranking a site. The content is.

I think it has more to do with branding, recognition and basically... well, pride.

Say for instance you had a book out called "How To Get Pregnant" you where seen as a true mentor to women all across the globe in this area and you wanted a website... if you have the money, why not?

I think sometimes we forget what is a lot or money for us is chump change for others and especially when it is a good marketing decision for them based on their product and offer.

Lots of domains sell even higher.

True, someone with such a book could benefit from it and possibly make a quick ROI (Only God Knows)

Also, I agree with those above on the seo non-importance, but that particular name/phrase itself is very easy to remember IMO, and will make it a lot easier for people to remember the site.

For type in traffic, it gets a very high grade. Very usable as Don said for a doctor, and would do well to sell a book or guide.

prices are determined by how much someone is willing to pay for them. If I really wanted that domain I wouldn't mind paying that for it.

I personally wouldn't buy that domain for that much but there are other domains that I would pay more than that for.

If you do a little research on IVF treatments and how much treatments to increase the odds of getting pregnant cost, you'll have a better understanding of why that domain is worth so much to the right person/clinic/doctor.
