"Pay What You Want" Using Pay Pal

I have a product on a website that simply isn't selling . I want to put a capture box so people can tell me whiat they would like to pay.

How can I get people to pay what they want using PP? I don't have any other option, but what I need to know is how to set up PP to do that, like we can do here on WF.

Kind regards

Brian

You'd need a web form with a text box for the price they want to pay that submits to a page and brings the price and populates the code for the PayPal button.

Probably best done in PHP. This is custom code, I've never seen anything like this. I've seen, and made my own, forms where a user can pick quantity, but not price.

PayPal enable you to put a " donation " box on the page and it will let them fill in what they want to pay you, whatever that might be....very easy to do.

Okay - Here's the Pay Pal donation guide or tutorial that I found with your advice:

How to Add a Paypal Donation Button?

PayPal.com is the international service used for money transfer. The service allows anyone to pay in any way they prefer. You may have seen the Donate buttons from Paypal on many blogs. These allow your blog visitors to express their satisfaction about your blog in a monetary way.

Here is how to add a paypal donate button to your blog :

      1. Log in to your PayPal account.

      2. Click Merchant Services.

      3. Click Donations.

      4. Complete the form with the details of your item and select the Donation button you wish to use. For assistance with this process, click More Resources in the upper right corner of this page.

      5. In the Currency drop down box, select the type of currency you would like to receive your payments in.

      6. If you need to specify additional details, click Add More Options and fill out the appropriate fields, otherwise click Create Button Now.

      7. If you selected Add More Options, click Create Button Now.

      8. Copy the HTML code into a text file in Notepad and save it. Click Done if you are finished creating buttons, or click on Create Another Button if you want to make additional buttons.

      9. Login at Blogger.com.

      10. Click on Layout link on Dashboard.

      11. Click the Add page Element link in sidebar on the Page Elements subtab of Template tab.

      12. Choose the Html/Javascript option in the popup window.

      13. Paste the code from Paypal under the Contents window. Save.

      14. Clear Cache and view Blog.
That's how it's done. Thanks for point out what it's called.

Yep, I agree with enterpryzman. When setting up your button just select the "donate" option. This allows buyers to enter the amount they wish to pay.

it seems you are assuming your price point is the problem.. I think it is probably anything other then that (poor traffic, poor copy, or poor product selection)

I think a lot of people fall into this trap: I'm not making any sales (or "I am new to this"), so I'll only charge $5.

I make just as many sales, to the same list, promoting $497 products as I do promoting $7 products. But one pays a ton more for equal effort

Of course, I'm assuming your price point is at least normal for your market.

It's the templates, so I'll leave it to your judgement if I'm right to go down this road?

      Thanks for your reply.

I think your copy is too 'feature'-centric, vs benefits centric.
