It is wise to take tons of payment options???

Way back in the day I use to take a ton of payment options on my old site. But gradually it seems to migrate to just CC and mail. Do you think that additional options are a good idea? There's a few other things like: bitcoins, online checks, wire transfers, etc. Or are those overkill and make you look like a cheese ball?

I think, in general, the more options you can take, the better. But in reality, PayPal and credit-cards must cover most people's needs? And some of the people who can't/won't take PayPal can use a service which enables the customer to pay by PayPal anyway, such as ClickBank, Plimus, 2Checkout or Fastspring: clearly not letting customers pay by PayPal at all is handicapping yourself significantly, for many people doing business online.

I think it's perhaps better to mention that "other payments options can easily be discussed/arranged on request" than to give a long list of them?

I do think there are one or two specific methods (Payza? Bitcoins? Liberty Reserve?) that can make you look a little like a cheese ball, that I wouldn't want to mention specifically.

I have to agree word for word with Alexa on this. The key is find ways to get people to pay in a way that they can use paypal.

what about the option to take checks and money orders in the mail? I'm gonna offer that option as I had success with my old site using that. It seems like there's a lot of people out there that don't have cc's. Like not even bank accounts in some cases. Some people actually still want to put cash in the envelope and send it to you strange enough. I don't mind that but I just think it's risky because if the mail man takes the money then you get blamed for the missing mail or something.

If you did this methods, it's so risky and a big no no to send real cash through envelop by post office.
If, I'm gonna do that, I'll use Western Union or MoneyGram instead.

Many moons ago I use to offer different payment methods
but 99% of customers still used Paypal. I would even get
the occasional personal check in the mail! I considered
those bonus payments because I would never get them
if I didn't offer mail in payment option.

I haven't offered that for quite a while now though.

Paypal usually is more than enough, for most transactions. For those who do not have a paypal account you can use bank transfer, or cheques. Try and see what everyone else is doing on your niche. Chances are, there must be an average 'best practice' so you should copy and follow along.
