Hey everyone,

I'm not just one of those guys that is jumping in here asking how i can make a million over night, then expect it to be served to me on a plate.

I've just started to try and learn as much as possible about internet marketing so i can give it a shot. But after my current experience I'm a bit sceptical, so wondered if you guys could maybe help?

I've been told affiliate marketing is the best way to start out?

maybe email marketing?

trouble is i have no funds for the next couple of months but want to solidly work hard to start making my first few dollars on-line.

Can anyone recommend a current successful internet marketer that i should follow, study and listen to?

Can anyone recommend a free (no catches/no selling) but solid internet marketing training/course/system for a newb, that could lead my down the right path rather than the wrong one?

Kindest Regards

Nasher,

Thank you for your refreshing comments, i really appreciate it.

I totally understand and dont underestimat this industry, and plan to work hard. Rome wasnt built in a day as they say.

Trouble is, I have no clue where to actually start my business plan? i guess

In literature there is a common theme of comparing Innocence to Experience. For many of us the Innocent time was a glorious time. You are in that time now and you should enjoy it. For starters why not start a little blog or something that documents your journey! Post in it once per week and at some point you are virtually guaranteed to have people reading it who you can later do business with.

That sounds like a great idea?

Do you recommend using a free platform or wordpress?

Would you possibly know any good articles about blogging for beginners, getting traffic to my blog (specifically a blog in a beginner starting out?) id like to research instead of just diving in head first.

          Thanks

I say do something that is absolutely free and you can start in 5 minutes like blogger or wordpress.com. For example, here is a little phpLD blog I started (it's not much, but it's free!). It's not much but have added things to it over the last few years years.

As you start writing about business ideas or sites that might be of interest or profit, you'll start to get your thoughts more focused. You are also going to find there are little tricks to make a few dollars here or there, or get something free, or trade with someone, etc.

But above all, start making a presence for yourself. In the next 10 minutes you could have a blogger blog and a link in your signature pointing to it. That would make for a great first day on your journey to fame and fortune!

There are simple programs, courses, and ebooks out there that teach you how to start a website and write/sell ebooks. That for me was the easiest way to get started making money and learn many skills that you will need to make more money later on.

      I don't think that's a fair response.

I will be able to front up some cash in a month or so as i stated. I'm seeking advice from people who use this forum, so i can begin working and learning now.

I'm sure there was a time when you did not know a great deal your self.

I think the best thing for anyone who has no money to do is to take what you can do and figure out a fiverr.com gig you can do to start making some money real fast.

Once you have enough money to cover hosting and a domain name, start a website.

I have found that you can make money a lot faster if you stay out of the make money online and the really highly competitive fields.

Then build a list so that you continually have a source of income.

A lot of people on here give away free courses for specific methods and some with some more general information.

Search this site for threads about how to make $1000 in a month, etc. There are many, many threads with great advice on "how to" do it on this site for absolutely free. Many of them are even step by step and designed for newbies like yourself.

    Good luck.

I imagine that you'd only be doing free marketing until the 2 months are up? There's nothing wrong with free marketing, you just have to go hard with it. What niche are you considering entering into, and what do you want to sell?

      Sorry Randall,

At the moment I have no funds, I have a full time job so will be able to throw a few bucks at my business every month, just not right now I've just bought a house and there are no funds left this month.

I really havent considered a niche or hot market yet. I think i need to know more about what to do with a niche before I select one.

I'm a total newb to this and I'm just looking for direction, where to study, listen and learn.

I was pretty lost for about a year and a half, going from product to product, until I decided to focus on one thing and one thing only.

I put together a website, and focused on a couple free methods to build traffic. The success hasn't come in droves, but I'm starting to see more visitors every day from my traffic generation.

My next step was to put together a free report to build my list, which allowed me to have people that I could market to. So far I've been working on building a relationship and haven't tried to sell anything to them. However I've only been working on my list for about a week.

If you remove the thousands of dollars I've spent on products, all it really costs is a domain name, hosting, and an autoresponder... and a ridiculous amount of time.

Good luck, it's fun having the little successes like I (finally) have.

To be truthful with you, I have actually started looking at the following.

A clickbank system, that directs traffic from earticles to my domain which is actually my hoplink.

      And,

      An affiliate marketing system.

Trouble is im terrified and would like to get a bit of knowledge into me first learn as much as i can so i stand a better chance of success.

One more small bit of advice I would give is don't get too involved in so called "systems" or schemes to build links quickly. These can set you backwards in a bad way. Instead think about building up your links and content over time in a quality way.

that's great advice thank-you. these "systems" have basically made me a bit nervous to get my feet wet in internet marketing.

What I like the sound of is starting a blog, about myself getting into IM with £0 and sharing my journey experiences and what i've learned. this way im sure the networking can only do me wonders right?

I'm just unsure of how i would get traffic to a blog of this style.

        Nasher,
There are a few good ones, hang around the forum and you'll get to know a few (some on my Warrior friend list). In fact, what you can do is just dive into the many many threads on here.

As far as free platforms go. I have found Squidoo to be very good. Truth be told, it is certainly challenging to make money with nothing, but it can be done. Market research and solid content are very very important. Good luck! So much to learn.

        Cheers!

Yes, just be consistent over a period of time. I'm sure your plans will be revised a number of times, but realize that as you have a growing presence online there will be growing revenue opportunities that you don't have now.

Do you think I'd be taking the right 1st step by

          1) learning wordpress (have no clue about building a site)
          2) starting a wordpress blog
          3) getting traffic to see my site that is about myself starting out with £0, learning IM sharing everything, networking.

Where could i advance from this?

Sorry if it seems I'm jumping the gun a bit but i feel i need a solid future plan to start working towards making money online.

Well, remember you can get a free wordpress blog at wordpress.com as well, so you can learn wordpress that way before you have to pay for hosting and a domain name. Here is mine. I honestly don't do all that much with Wordpress.com or Blogger now but they are great for people starting to learn about the content building process, and what you make now will be there for years and contribute to whatever you do next.

I would recommend avoiding a Wordpress hosted blog - don't bother learning Wordpress until you have the funds to buy your own domain and hosting. They don't at all encourage monetization of any sort. As you go, you're going to want to use your blog to make money so if you have to start free, go with Blogger.

I would actually tell you to go with Squidoo right now. They offer several ways to monetize directly in their platform, but you can easily add your own links and ads. It's free and you can set up any number of lenses and they don't require the constant maintenance of a blog.

You can learn a lot about using Squidoo by searching this forum and searching around Squidoo - they offer a lot of great info. Becoming a lensmaster will help you work on some of the skill you'll need, plus allow you to earn. Once you start making anything from there, then use that money to fund your business needs.

I have some advice for you too. Try finding your "niche" to write about. It could be something you do for a hobby. Start a blog on a free site like blogger.com or Wordpress (already suggested) and get fans over time.

It's really good you have a job already. Working online can be a great job too. Some people here have become great successes. Others just make a little extra money every month.

There are good and not as good people here to learn from. Use the free resources first. You can learn a lot without spending a lot here too. There are many good free resources here and out on the internet for you to use, while you save money for a course or to learn more.

Good luck to you! Another good and free resource for blogging is the Bloggeries forum here: Bloggeries.

When you get the money too, you may want to join the special Warrior section here at the Warrior Forum. There are many resources there too. I know because I have joined there. Buyer beware though, and take your time to learn who the very best authors and mentors are out there for your niche.

Do you think a blog about myself starting out online with £0 is a good idea?

I have a full time job but i have a mortgage and after bills there isnt a lot left for me.

My main goal is to learn as much as possible, work hard and then surely that should lead to some kind of money coming back out?

I subscribed to warrior forum a while ago, can you recommend anything in there for an overwhelmed newb that really needs to start focusing on one thing?

thanks for taking the time to help out btw.

I think your plan would work but definitely, have a feel about earning money online with fiverr and similar sites. If you examine and do good keyword research, you could sell easily 10-15 gigs a day.

Once you get that money coming in - then work on that blog and create awesome, unique content.

Once you start making anything from there, then use that money to fund your business needs.
i really do appreciate your advice so i can sit down soon and start writing a plan. it really means so much to me, thanks.

wow, i didnt know key word research was needed for fivver. i am really green around the ears and need to change that fast

do you have any recommendations of good material to look at for making a killing on fivver?

Do you think that creating a blog about starting with £0 to somewhere successful would be a good move?

When you go over to Fiverr - search each category with the "rating" tab and look at the first five gigs on each section. You should now have around at least 150 popular keywords to start with If you can do even 5 out of this gigs in a better way than they do - it is a good start. Then send your gig links to twitter, facebook and add them to your signature here.

A gig on Fiverr sells for $5. Of that, Fiverr keeps $1, then PayPal takes their fees and you end up with around $3.50 to $3.75 per gig. I doubt there are too many people making a 'killing' on Fiverr.

Its not big money at fiverr but a good place to start with. When I first started my design gigs at fiverr, I made around $55-$75 per day and that was great. My advice is start with fiverr and invest your time learning how to build a list.

I will be reviewing this thread in its entirety tomorrow and creating an action plan.

Thanks to all who have given and future contributers to this thread.

I take it that it is essential to learn list building first?

Very true. It is not big money and it takes effort.

I had mentioned Squidoo earlier, there is also Hubpages. Search for big ticket items on Amazon (join amazon affiliate program) and write articles on these sites about these high ticket products. At least this way, when you do get conversions, it will have bigger reward. As has already been mentioned, keyword research is KEY. There are a ton of programs to do this. Just using Googles free tools is good. Traffic Travis is decent too and free. I have bought the paid ones before and they are not really any better than free. I am sure someone may correct me on that. Having all your data available, saveable, exportable, etc. these are all good things.

There was a WSO on Fiverr, can't recall whom by......but good starting point to learn that if you go that route. Yes, your plan to learn wordpress, big big big. Also learning how to build a list. No need to rush out and purchase any autoresponders just yet, but definitely worth learning.

Can you suggest articles/sites on where to learn?

Can you suggest skills to learn on-line for a beginner to start freelancing?

I have literally just delved into the world of IM

I always forget about freelancing. It is just a matter of taking inventory of your skills and turning it into a service, writing, graphic design, etc being most common, but there are loads of different services. Search around and get ideas. A good copywriter, for example, can be paid quite well.

It pretty hard cashing in $$ without a budget to invest in.
As an Internet Marketer, you need the most essential tool...
You domain name and Web host...

I suggest starting by writing articles on iwriter.com
you can make around $3 for writing 1 article as a standard writer.
As you get good reviews, you will become premium then elite writer
which means you will be paid better.

Start there... until you have money to invest.
You can learn internet marketing in the mean time using
the Warriorforum... But don't get distracted to this forum as it
    is addictive sometimes.

Hope to see you success in your internet marketing career.
