True Static Front Page Wordpress Plugin

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

Is there anyone who can recommend to me the best Static Front Page Wordpress Plugin that will allow me to chose any post as my static front page and will allow the newer posts to continue below it as usual in sequential order. Thanks for your help.

Sincerely,

Charles Prosper

Why not just make a page and name it whatever you want, then make that your static home page. WordPress has that option already built in to it.

        Hi:

You can create one sticky post which will stay on your home page and on your settings go to reading and set how many posts you want to show on your home page and use the summary option not the full text. If the summary text does not help then use the plugin called "Auto Excerpt everywhere".

        I hope this helps you.

        Best of luck

Sounds like you want a "sticky post" plugin instead of a static front page.

Like Andrew said, you just need to make a post a "sticky" and it will stay at the top and your latest posts will always go under it.

Make a page with your needs and select it as static homepage.

I thought the static page was something that you could choose as an option in the newer versions.

Readers, please read and understand the OP's question before replying man.

cprosper, you want to "chose any post as my static front page". First of all, you CAN'T choose a "post" as a static front page.

Second, you want one static post on top, and the remaining posts below it.

For this you JUST need to set one post as a sticky post. Nothing else.

I was wondering the same thing, this will work, but by making a sticky post and showing the complete post on your home page, you will now have a duplicate post in the category it is listed in. How would you get around the duplicate content issue.

I would like to do the same thing, show one complete sticky post on the home page, with the most recent post (excerpts) below it. But I do not want the complete sticky post duplicated on my site in the category it is posted in.

      Any thoughts?

      Thanks.

I doubt that if you don't want the sticky in the categories, you must turn it into page not post. If you want to have a static article to stand on top, and the latest excerpt posts below that static article, you should better create new page template with two queries in it. One for just like normal page template query, reset query, and make another one to query latest posts with the excerpt template page. Create new page with your desire article you want it static above the site and choose the previous template that you created. Set this page as front page in Setting. This is an idea.
