Clickbank LEAKS - does it depend on the leak?

Hi All,

I am just starting out with affiliate marketing (via Article Syndication) and want to be looking in the 'right' direction. I have learned to stay away from leaks and high gravities, but does it depend? I found a product i'd love to promote and can get inspired to write about, but it has an opt-in following a free questionaire.

So, someone sees my article and is interested in the title, reads about the
niche and NOT the product, clicks on the resource box link that goes to MY
SITE to get a freebie, gives me their email address....NOW they are in my
Aweber. *Once on my site they find the product I am promoting and click on
the link that goes to the vendor. *But the product has a FREE test/questionaire and at the end of the test there is an opt in. *But the
cookie is MINE forever...(this particular product AND aff network)...
If they buy now or later, it is my sale at 50%. **So what if they are on both MY list and THAT list? Isn't that okay? They found the product from liking MY article, MY free bonus, My recommendation...won't they stay on MY list even if they get on the vendor's list? (When this happens to me, I usually stay with the original list because i would never have known if it wasn't for that guy or gal!)

Should i absolutely stay away from a sales page like this, even if they won't change the page just for me? IOW, am i shooting myself in the foot, even if the cookie is mine forever?

Thank you!
John

    Yes.

In the sense that we all have our own opinions of what sort of leaks are/aren't acceptable.

For me (and I suspect for most pro-affiliates) that would rule it out completely, unless the vendor either has or is willing to produce a different sales page without the opt-in.

For me (and I suspect for most pro-affiliates) that isn't ok; no. Your cookie can be overwritten by one the vendor sends to your prospective customer in his follow-up series.

Yes, but that can happen and you can still lose the commission if they happen to buy just after they've clicked on a hoplink other than yours. Maybe you have a 50% chance, or something, if you send emails as regularly as the vendor?

The way I look at it is that this is a problem I just don't need, when there are 15,000+ other products there, from which I can choose.

    That's a real leak.

I recommend this thread (but read it all the way through - not all the "information" in it is completely accurate, though the misinformation is corrected, if you read carefully): http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...oduct-opt.html

You have to decide for yourself, John.

    I would stay away.

There'll be people (maybe including some vendors with opt-ins?) who disagree with me, too - and they'll post soon enough.
