Amazon Associates makes me happy

Some of us are not fans of Amazon Associates because of their commission rates among other reasons. I have an affiliate website and since the holidays are behind us, I expected a significant decline in sales in January. To my surprise, not one of my Amazon products have sold in 2013 yet I have a conversion rate % of 174%!

With Amazon being such a popular consumer website, who cares if they buy what you are selling as long as they are buying something after they click on your affiliate links. The conversion rate was over 300% but of course it will decrease over the month but this served as a reminder of the income Amazon can bring those of us that utilize it. It is the 2nd week of January and I am ready at the 6.50% commission level. Just wanted to share for any of you who are down on the Amazon Associates program.

It's nice to see an unrelated sale.

Is Amazon the only physical aff program which gives you commision for unrelated sales?

While it is always nice getting that extra sale completely unrelated to the main product on Amazon I can understand why some people don't like them. It is completely luck of the draw, there is no way you can lead them to make that sale and is just luck that they happend to be on your affiliate link. It all comes down to if you want to rely on luck or you want to narrow your marketing to a field of people who want to buy the product your actually selling.

Well yes of course you should be concentrating on whatever you are trying to sell. The rest is just an added bonus.

I have no idea how anyone can look at this as a bad thing.

If your traffic is targeted then most of your sales will be for the products, or similar products, that you're promoting. Additional / random sales are just gravy and always fun to see.

All my other affiliates provide a commission for anything sold. The others actually have a cookie period of 30-60 days so anything bought in that period, goes under my account.

I don't use any plugins. Skype me and I can help you if you like.

Cookie period of 30-60 days? Never heard of this. How did you get that? Do you mean the 90 days shopping cart cookie?
