To Clickbank or not to Clickbank?

Hello all,
I'm working on a new site with various info products I'll be creating (some simple ebooks, other are more in depth membership sites)

I've got another site where I do the same thing in a different language and there I've got shopping carts, affiliate software, etc.

With this new one I'm considering putting the various products on clickbank. I've purchased clickbank products but have never sold on there so I'm not sure if there is the flexibility. I'm hoping some more seasoned vets can set me straight:

- I don't get much flexibility on Clickbank, right? For example, if I have a $7 product that leads to an upsell membership option and I want to run a promotion to my list for the front end to be $1, I can't really do that on Clickbank, right?

- What about flexibility with the product? If I decide to add more or edit something can I do that or do I have to start over with a new product? Are things set in stone once you put your product out there?

- I've heard people complaining that Clickbank is too easy for people to refund on. That unscrupulous people are lurking to buy and then refund right away. Is this really a big problem?

- Is it difficult? In never setting one up I'm concerned about getting thank you pages to properly register them into the membership options etc., etc. How hard is it to make the moving parts work together?

Thanks.

You can offer a different initial price to your list.
The minimum initial price for a recurring product is officially
$4.95 though you could ask if you qualify for a one dollar trial.

No - you can make changes

The refund rate across all products is about 7%

ClickBank will lead your customer to your Thank You page.
After that it's up to you

Their 60 day guarantee period lights a fire under the butts of program owners to produce the best quality materials. Also, the stiff competition in that program ensures the cream rises to the top. Clickbank is awesome.

Yes but as I said earlier, the 60 day guarantee penalizes them. Also, the relaunch of the ranking system will expose these people to affiliates.

    Hi,

When I launched my first product, I deliberated whether or not I should sell it through Clickbank and I made a list of some pros and cons (I eventually chose CB and I think it was a good decision for me.):

    Pros:

    1. Since it's very common to add a "Money Back Guarantee", CB will send you the money only when the 60 days are over. However, if you use PayPal for example, it will be much harder to know exactly when the return period is over and you may accidentally use the money before. I think it's a big plus!

    2. People usually prefer paying through known services rather than to people they don't know.

    Cons:

    1. The process of approving a new product on CB takes a few days and you have to follow all of CB guidelines and rules, otherwise, your product won't get approved, but after the first product it will be much easier.

    2. CB "Money Back Guarantee" is 60 days.

About the refunds, I think that you can't really control it. There are many scammers out there, and you can't fight it, just make sure to deliver great products so you will have a lot of sales.

If a person asks for a refund, the best you can do to try to prevent it is to ask him why he's returning your product and try to solve the problem, but if he just wants the money, then you probably return it to him anyway because it's not worth having a bad reputation.

    Hope that helped... Good luck!

I should have looked at your site before I wrote my post.

But damn I really like your site man. Maybe its because blue is my favorite color, but that is a very clean/professional design.

Can I ask, how did you get on so many radio stations/newspapers/tv?

This is the first time I'm going on tv, but it wasn't exactly planned.
Are you just doing press releases or something?

You're definitely going to get serial refunders. Sadly, that's just going to happen.

What you need to consider though, is that those refunders were never going to pay for your product in the first place. You were never going to have their money, since if it wasn't for the 60 day refund time, they wouldn't have bought the product at all.

Clickbank is a great place to list your products. Absolutely great.

If you stay within the normal 7% range of refunds you keep the remaining 93%. Focus on the positive

I agree it can be a slight pain getting your first product approved by Clickbank, it's their way or the highway which can only be good thing as it filters out all the crappy products.

Other advantage is Clickbank takes care of all the sales, refunds & affiliate payments which is useful if you don't want to do it yourself.

The only downside for me is if you want to offer 100% commissions or more as Clickbank only processes up to 75% commissions.

    Hope that helps!

It is actually possible to give 100% commission to selected affiliates using ClickBank's Joint Venture feature

I am brand new as a vendor to Clickbank and just got my first product approved a few days ago but I can tell you that you have lots of flexibility on the thank you page just like Harvey said.
