Ok, I have been an affiliate marketer for about 5 or 6 years. I had about 4 sites doing fairly well, with one site making me about $2,000+ a month.

Everything was fine until I got hit with Panda. My main site's income went down to around $300 a month due to lost hits. One reason for this I believe is I bought some crap links on Fiverr trying to keep my hits up and compete with other up and coming sites.

I just find all the sudden I can't compete! I have even started new sites and built awesome quality content! I link them (not a ton of marketing thus far) and I get maybe 1 visitor every couple days.

I feel like times have changed so much over the last year or two..and I am lost! It seems so much harder now to place a site?

If anyone has the time or heart to lend a hand I will send over a couple sites through private messaging.

Help!

Are you already trying social networks to get more visitors?

Did you delete the bad content and replaced it with new quality and fresh content to regain your old ranks or you tried and it didn't work?

See that's it, all the content is good. Unique and well written. I really think it was the junk links I bought..forum profile links, etc..

Even since, I have created some new great sites, with new unique content. And I get one visitor every couple days..I guess the days of just being able to launch a site and fire a couple links over to it and get traffic are gone..

So many people doing this now.

Oh! Social marketing is something I need to look into more. This may be one of the reasons I am being left behind!

Since you've been doing it 5 years maybe you can start of with a fresh concept of which way you want to make money online. You know how all the IM business courses etc, start of with saying choose writing or eCommerce, affiliate, etc well go down the list again. It might be fun.

You might want to looking into creating your own product or concept. Make up something.

Yes, I would like to stick with the affiliate marketing. I do enjoy it, although it seems so much harder these days. I guess with the amount of people getting into it, and trying to compete with the top marketers is tough.

I have 2 sites right now I would like to kick start...what are people doing these days to get a site going..?

Well.. that part hasn't changed they are doing the same thing to get online.

Now that I know that you are still interested in affiliate marketing. This guy does something different with affiliate marketing.

What he does is make a video about each product he's ecstatic about, which turns subscribers into buyers and followers of him.

He's in a sound vegetarian niche, if you are in a sound niche for things people use on a daily basis like a juicer, then you could do the same or better. http://www.youtube.com/rawfoods

Damn that sucks. IMO fiverr is only good for manual links.

Yea it sucks! I noticed some of my competitors above me had thousands of crap links..so I thought I would get some too! Then my site's traffic and rank were killed. Right on the panda and penguin dates...

so is my site dead? How would I rescue it?

Sorry to hear about your story but this is a great example on why you should never have your eggs all in one basket, especially with how Google feels about Internet marketers. Also fiverr is a risky place to buy services from. I would say about 99% of the backlinks on fiverrr come from automated software.

Might have to go back and start removing some of those links, and experiment with pay per click.

Yes SEO can be like working for Google and it's a bummer.

    All the usual answers really...

    Pay for traffic
Build a list from that traffic
    Create your own product
    Have a killer autoresponder series
Never rely on Google for your income. There are more and more threads popping up with people losing money cause of changes and you can guarantee that there will be more.

SEO is great but never as a primary or sole means of driving traffic.

Excellent work creating a site that earns $2000 a month. You clearly have some talent and probably have the answers to your questions given some thought.

    Good luck.

    1) Domain age has a bigger effect than ever before so you should have that going for you. .
    2) Your back links need to be more naked links than anchor text. Google has devalued the strength of anchor text backlinks. It used to be 70/30 anchor texts links to naked links now those numbers are inverted. If you can remove excessive anchor text backlinks to your site, do it. Counteract the effects by getting as many naked links as you can. There are lots of social bookmarking websites that show naked links, you can post them to social networks like Youtube, Twitter, Facebook.
    3) Improve your On-Page optimization with HTML and rich snippets code.

I would begin to explore other traffic methods other than just SEO, and start looking into direct response style marketing, becasue once you have a well maintained list you're income will be secure.

It is also vital to know more than one traffic method just in case something like that happens.

  • So your main traffic generation strategy was SEO, and you were getting good organic search traffic before Panda? If so:

=>> Focus on building backlinks for traffic funneling over SEO. This means implement these free methods to funnel traffic from sites where your target viewers frequently hang out, straight to the relevant pages of your sites, and not for backlinks:
