10,000 Amazon Product Link Clicks / month - would Adsense be a better choice?

Hello kind people,

Short story: I have a few dozen basic amazon affiliate sites (.com) that I set up a couple of years ago and then pretty much have forgotten about. Combined they make around $100/month so at least they are paying their domain renewal fees plus a few hundred extra each year. But seeing as I do absolutely nothing with them no big deal.

So today I for some reason checked my amazon account and noticed that I average around 10,000 Product Link Clicks per month, with what I assume is a terrible conversion rate of around 0.2%. Each domain is just a few pages with two amazon carousel widget thingies on each page.

Now my question is seeing as I have 10,000 product link clicks each month, would adsense be a better choice?

Or can you combine adsense and amazon at the same page? And if you can, should you?

Many of my sites however are "productname.com", would that be ok having adsense on?

Yes, I'm very much a newbie with these things and would very much appreciate some help...

Thank you in advance!

Cheers,
Andreas

I have okay results with amazon.com. Tried adsense combination before, doesn't worth it.

If you have sites for sale. Please let me know.

This is probably an odd question, but are you sure they are all real clicks? Some days I have more clicks than I have visitors which I never understood. Either way, I would try mixing them both at the same time.

If this is not something you like, then do some CPC research and find the sites of yours that have the highest adsense potential. Convert a few over and compare.

You say your using two carousel widgets on each page. Is that the only affiliate links you are using? Widgets are known to have a very low conversion rate in comparison to in-content links.

Well, in the short term Adsense might be a better choice but you must know that Google might ban your adsense accoiunt without any reason. The CTR that you are getting which is very low might be due to the fact that your site is not so forget.

You can also try CPA offers and Chikita.

It seems to me that you are not getting 10,000 clicks per month because if you were, then you should have more then a few sales.

You can have both on your site. Then if you are not getting any clicks or very few on your adsense ads, then you know for a fact that your numbers are way off.

  • LoL, with your average Amazon conversion rate and assuming the product you sell is bang on $100 you should be making anywhere between $3000 and $7000 per month with that many clicks.

Even with widget clicks, the fact is it says you get 10k clicks, now if that were all real people then there is no way the conversion rate would be that low for amazon. So a huge amount (and I mean the majority like 80-90%) can't be real. Because even if they were real and not targeted or looking to buy, you'd still have a better conversion where people who weren't looking to buy, do so by getting something they see or had planned to get at later date.

The short answer is DO NOT use adsense with "productname.com" domains. Trademark infractions will get you banned.

I'm surprised that you're making so little money, as 10,000 clicks would be more than enough to make a full time living just from Amazon's affiliate program.

Thank you all! I had to check because I haven't touched the sites for so long, but it turns out I also have two in-content links per page. Makes sense that not all clicks are real, but why are bots (or what?) clicking on the links thousands of times per month? Yeah, I was worried about the trademark thing too, would such sites generally be ok with cpa?

Well that is indeed really horrible conversion rate. I think you should try Google adsense alone. A combination of amazon with adsense might not be a good idea, as you will creating competition on your own site. I believe adsense will do better for you than amazon. The reason being that you are not pre-selling, and promoting just random amazon products. That is why you are getting that less conversions. Thats why adsense will be better for your sites, as you are not getting based on conversions. You just need to grt those clicks and thats how you earn. So you will earn more with adsense.
    Hope that helps you.

How much traffic are the sites getting daily? Once you see that then you'll have a more accurate idea of how many amazon clicks your getting.

Do your sites pre-sell the products or just an informational type site?

I'd be surprised if you are getting that number of clicks if your conversion rates are a bad as you say. One thing Amazon is really good at is getting conversions (and additional sales on extras); that's what their whole site is geared up to do.

Rather than switching to Adsense why not do a little bit of work on your content with a bit of a pre-sell on the products you're promoting; this should improve your conversion rate.

    Hope this helps.
