Wise Im'ers Seeking Advice/Help for my Site

Ok, so I am on my second website in my internet marketing journey. The first site I did was wrong as far as I did not do my keyword research correct or even really have a plan of what I was going to do. Although I did learn a lot by jumping in and giving it a shot.

Now here I am with my 2nd site and I feel I had a bit of a better thought out plan. But I need some advice because I am stuck. I am not getting many visitors maybe 6 a day at the most, if that. I know what most WF members say about social media and article marketing and backlinks etc. My thing is I am not sure if this site is right for social media. I have no idea what the social sites could be about or what I could say.

On top of that I am not sure if I have anymore ideas for my site, meaning I may have run out of topics to write about. I was thinking maybe change my theme, but other than that I'm drawing a blank.

Should I scrap this site and start something else? Although, I didn't want to do that until I feel I did all that I can do for and with this site. Maybe this topic was not a good idea. I don't know. But any specific advice, help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated for this site and for future ones.

The first thing I noticed is that there are a lot of ads! and you use the same picture multiple times. (not sure if this is intentional though?)

But it sounds like you don't have a lot of interest in this topic. Simply based off the fact that you've run out of ideas so quickly. I won't be cliche and tell you to pick something you love because sometimes that won't make you money. But you probably should at least pick something your generally interested in and can write a lot about.

But only you can make the decision to scrap the site or keep working on it. It's pretty niched so it might work out good for you. There's only one way to find out though...

I think you've got to ask yourself 'why am I doing this?' The site has potential, but you are not going to make diddly-squat out of adsense, plus adwords look shabby on a healthcare site. You need a strategy.

I own a website in a fairly specialist field too. I sell an ebook containing information not available elsewhere, and I also make myself personally available to buyers. It sells very well at $42 a pop and I make a good living from it. My three pieces of advice to you are:

      1) Concentrate on a specialty within the field of optometry, and design a unique product or service which will appeal to professionals within that field.
      2) For traffic, get serious about keywords relating to your specialty, go all out to obtain links from big healthcare sites, and move into social media. Google likes sites who are using social media.
      3) Grow the site. I googled you and you appear to have 170 pages. Check out your competition. Make yours the leading site in your profession, whether that be 1,2,5 or 10,000 pages.

There are no short-cuts in IM. But achieve these goals over a year or so and there's no reason why you shouldn't be earning a good living from this site.

I would advice you to cut your loss and ride on winning........meaning you don't have to waste your time on trying to hold unprofitable campaign. Scrap the site and start a whole new one.

I thought a health site would be good for adsense I guess not. So I need to find a product. I need to get traffic first. Not sure how to do this or how to use social media for this site.

There are A LOT of ads - and while they can work on some kinds of health sites that target the end consumer, this many ads will put off readers and the URL and content seems to be targeting the optometrist or the soon to be heading to school for optometry individual.

If the second is the case then you can highlight specific schools, more about the education and requirements to become an optometrist on one side of the site. This site wouldn't make too much money from sales because these are students - but will target well placed ads from schools.

The other side is develop content that specifically targets optometrists and gives them something of value -whether you are marketing website design/development or discussing the value of online ecommerce for their own websites or the benefits of specific products and services they can offer their own clients. And then have your own product you can offer to them.

You can't really have a social media campaign until you can niche down - the professional or the student target audience - and you have a strong content focus.

There are things that you need to change.

You use the same picture so many times.
Too many ads in the post.
I believe you should post articles separately, so you have pages to share in social media sites.
Create a page/post for each of your articles, e.g. one for "Pros and Cons of an Optometry Career", one for "How to Write a Personal Statement for Optometry School" and one for "Vaccinations Required for Optometry School"
Make sure you have the write spelling for "Personal" under "How to Write a Personal Statement for Optometry School".
