How would you market user-generated content website?

Hey guys,

I run a new startup called Listnerd.com. It's a website devoted to lists; much like Pinterest, only with lists instead of pinboards. It launched in public beta on the 15th of November 2012.

Listnerd has thousands of user-generated lists and list items. Obviously, SEO is going to be a very important factor in marketing the website - but I wanted to ask you guys a broader question: How would you market a site like Listnerd.com?

If you owned and operated Listnerd, how would you go about getting the site known to millions of people? What would be your strategy?

Any and all input will be greatly appreciated

I would do as much integration with FaceBook as possible so that people are constantly linking to their lists on your website from their FaceBook accounts.

Ya your site looks pretty cool. I agree with Chase in that you should encourage as much sharing as possible on social media, especially facebook.

Other than that you should create some youtube videos to promote your site.

    Interesting concept...

The word that comes to mind is 'partnerships'.

Can you find partner sites that would tell their members to create a list on Listnerd and share it on the partner site? Is there any way for users to embed a list they create on another page, much like a YouTube video?

Such a cross promotion might work quite well with user groups, fan groups, forums, etc.
