Looking for fast and easy traffic? Try reddit (also the story of my site)

So for the past several months, my site has been living on scraps of traffic - 20 visits one day, 10 visits the next... things were looking poor. I then decided to take things a little more seriously (partly because I now actually have time to put into the site because of winter break). Every day that I haven't been working my other job (or snowboarding, I guess haha), I have been sitting down and working for the benefit of my site. I finally delved into social media. Created a twitter, revamped my Facebook page, created an Instagram, and created a Pinterest account (although I haven't really touched Pinterest). I made a new logo and collected a bunch of pictures for Instagram and profile backgrounds to make everything look pretty. I also sat down and spent a lot of time writing some quality articles.

I then decided to give reddit a go. I first started using Reddit for entertainment a little while ago, but I never really tried to get links to my site on there. So, I posted a link to my first ever written article on a relevant subreddit.

One link = 1500 views in around 8 hours. My previous highest for one day was 80, and that was an extreme outlier.

The funny (or not...) thing was, the article was not that great. And reddit ate it up and spat it back out... A bunch of unhappy comments. That was probably why I didn't get any Amazon affiliate link clicks.

Learned from my mistake and decided to forget my old articles and post one of my new ones (in a different relevant subreddit ). I did this this morning. I am still riding the #2 spot and I am expecting to hit #1 eventually. I have gotten over 400 views so far today and 16 affiliate clicks to $100 and up products (some of those views were from Stumbleupon, which is also great). I hope that I will see some sales tomorrow!

Anyways, I realized that if you have quality articles, reddit is a great place to get some great traffic (and also be able to talk to the people in the link comments section that will potentially buy products through your link). However, if you have crap articles, you will get crap traffic.
