Hi Warriors:
Can you tell me what's going on here. i submitted my email address once a few minutes ago and was expecting to be on one list. however when i clicked on the link at the bottom of the email message that allows me to unsubscribe or change my details, i was shocked that i subscribed to two lists (aweber autoresponder) and i was subscribed at exactly the same time.

is this a scam to inflate the number of subscribers by the marketer or did i miss that aweber list building class?

Yea it is totally a scam. You have to watch out for those emails, even though you unsubscribe, you are showing that you took action on their email, which means they will expect you to open further emails they send you. I say you should just block them.

      Not at all.

The reality is explained by Will in the post just above this.

That is the best thing you can do.

Sometimes, the list owner will take all their existing subscribers and import them to a new list that they just created. I have done this in the past and there is nothing wrong with that.

    NO...it doesn't mean it's a scam

One marketer may put you on hit list and then have an automation rule to put you on another one of his lists. For example, if you purchase a product about list building, the market may put you on his main LISTBUILDING list and his list for that specific product

So it doesn't mean it's a scam necessarily

It is smart marketing, in a wrong way, by some internet
marketers who have the intention of marketing sundry
products to you aside the list you subscribed to.

I have to block an internet marketer from my email because
he put me on all his lists without my consent. Everyday I was
receiving one promotion after another. Too bad!

It is a feature inside of Aweber and many people use it.

It is called an Automation rule and inside Aweber you can create them so that when someone subscribes to a list you can also automatically subscribe or unsubscribe them from another list.

If you are downloading someone's free report they might have created a new list just for that report so when you join they put you on that list but then also puts you on their main list.

Reporting them won't do anything because they aren't really doing anything wrong. If you don't want to be on both lists then just unsubscribe from either or both.

wow.. I'm almost speechless by the responses some people have had.

This is simply how someone has chosen to organize their subscribers.

Imagine the offline world. I have a list of customers. I ask my assistant "Tom, make me a list of all of our customers who live in Ohio and bought our newest product".. OOOOH NOOOO - I now have them on multiple lists!!

    that's scammy?

Can it be due to solo ads? Selling of email lists to others..

I can convert your Non-Responsive website to Responsive website ... How sweet is that? :)

I have myself 4 lists, people can be on max 3 lists at the same time:
      1. Freebie seekers
      2. Buyers (removed from freebies when converted)
      3. My Affiliates (promoting my product)
      4. Webinars (people from freebies, buyers & affiliates assisting to my webns)

That's stupid people telling others they can't be on multiple lists at the same time eh -,-
I agree with that for sure.

I think some marketers also use this feature to send 2 types of email. One type of email may be more content oriented and the email from the other list more aggressive with the promos. So if you unsub from the more aggressively marketed list -- you are still on the other list

At least you can see aWebber to unsibscribe from knowing that you will be unsubscribed.

What gets my goat is the number of unsubscribe buttons that are just there for show and never take you off a list.

Personally, I just put them in my spam filters as it is a waste of time unsubscribing and, in some cases, you are just confirming to the spammer that you read your emails and exist.

frankly, I will not worry about it at all. You are lucky if it is in only 2 lists.

That's very shady. Contact the marketer and demand an explanation from them. I can't believe people stoop to low tactics to get a subscriber

I bought a product a little bit ago form a couple JV partners who subsequently had differences and split up. In the end, I wound up on EACH of their lists. Is this kinda the same case or can they really just swap em around like that?

Seems kinda suspect. Good lists though! Dammit.

Ya multiple lists is definitely not scammy if it serves a purpose. Personally, I want to be on multiple lists of certain people or companies because it benefits me...

Just my opinion. You can always hit the unsubscribe button!
