Is it a good idea to test affiliate reviews on blogger?

I'm just getting into internet marketing, and I've done a lot of research to find keywords with a lot of searches and low competition on google. All of my keyword strings are focused on top products in ebay and other online platforms and most are very consumer specific. Anyhow, I want to set up some review sites with affiliate links, but since I'm really inexperienced I was thinking about testing one or two blogger sites just to see what happened before putting money and time into a more professional site. Then, if results seemed promising, I could put out the extra effort to establish something more concrete. I know the costs would be pretty insignificant, but I've been living in Thailand for seven months so any penny saved...well, you know. :-) It is mostly time wasted I am concerned with, as I realize the learning curve in this game is steep. Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks in advance

    yeah.. why not?..

If you have the extra time... go for it..

I have a ton of domains, so I mostly use domains that I control, but I have, and still use plenty of Blogger blogs for content/reviews.

I've done this before, and what I discovered is that my CTR to 'blogspot' urls was lower then the CTR to my own domain.. and so was the conversion. This was using ppc though (my original campaign to my own domain had been google slapped), so the URL was visible...

Was the CTR so much lower that it isn't really effective as a test site? It crossed my mind that it would most likely perform better through my own domain, so I figured if it was successful I could (cautiously) expect better results when I set up the real site, but let me know what your opinion is based on this experience. Also, Jason170, I've seen from your posts you have a lot of experience with affiliate links, so can you give me a little advice on not getting google slapped?

Rookie mistake. It's cool though, I've been guilty too. Here's the problem... a slapped together site is almost ALWAYS going to suck. You'll go through 10 test sites without finding any "winners."

However, chances are good that at least one of those sites could have been a winner if you applied proper technique to it.
