100,000 views on your website. What does it take?

Hi,

I was just thinking what would it take to reach 100,000 visitors to your site each month?

What kind of niche with the right content could this be achievable with?

And what steps could be taken to reach that many visitors?

Regards

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

It is all about CONTENT. Quality content is king, buddy. Here's how it works.

You stock your site with RELEVANT and ENGAGING content based on solid RESEARCH on your target audience. Make sure you appeal to your audience.

You drive traffic. If the content is any good and regularly updated, more of your traffic will stick around. They will also refer other people.

How fast this all plays out depends, again, on CONTENT QUALITY.

I am getting 300,000 visitors to my site every month. It took 4 years, 5 writers, 2300 articles and a genuine interest in what we write about.

    @NA5H3R:
As others have mentioned, providing Great Content or Services is the best way to achieve this.

There's really no "Secret Method" behind this.

It's up to you to find a way to provide something that people Absolutely NEED and WANT.

If you do your SEO and PPC campaigns right, that can help boost your traffic a lot; but in the end, the Quality of your site is what matters.

I have a website that reached 13,000,000+ Page Views per month; absolutely no SEO or Paid Advertising was done for it.

It was just a service that people Wanted and Needed, so the traffic grew on it's own.

However, some of my other businesses that had x100 Times Less Traffic that that one, brought in much more Profit.

Keep in mind that High Page Views doesn't automatically equate to success.

One can have a site with only 10,000 page views per month, and it could bring in a lot more profit than another site with 1,000,000 PV/month.

It all depends on what you are providing/selling and how well you can convert your sales.

Its interesting you've changed the conversation from 'site visitors' which is what the questioner asked about, to talking about 'page views'. Do you know the difference?

That is a trivial question. Is your comment very relevant?

The OP's Question was essentially: "What does it take to get large amounts of Traffic?"
        (Be it "Views" or "Visitors")

        The OP's Topic has:

Title: 100,000 views on your website. What does it take?

Body: I was just thinking what would it take to reach 100,000 visitors to your site each month?

        So it could confuse any reader on what metric he was asking about;
But what he wanted to know was clear, it was a question on Generating "Traffic".

In the case of my examples:
My 13,000,000 Page View/Month site had around 500,000 Monthly Visitors when I checked that Stat.

The Second site has around 150,000 Monthly Visitors.

I agree with that. Trying to reach a Specific Number/Range of Visitors is not what your focus should be.

Increasing the number of Visitors and Converting those Visitors into Buyers is what should be your main concern.

        Good points.
I too spread my efforts between 10-20 of my websites.

I would like that number to Decrease in the future however.

For now, I'm still in the early stages of business, and it will take a while to see which Sites/Businesses remain standing strong, and which ones will not go very far.

I would like to maintain about 5 Large Authority sites in the future.

It's easier to manage a fewer number of sites.
There are also BIG advantages of getting your site to "Authority" status.

Niche doesn't matter, what matter is the right kind of Marketing. A Good SEO, High social signals and Recognition in every Web 2.0 site can bring you 100,000 visitors

From my experience, it's not how many visitors you get, but how your site monetizes - how much money it's making for you. If I were you, I would ask myself, why is 100,000 monthly visitors important for me? Do I assume that 100,000 visitors will make me say $3,000/mo? If so, then you may be disappointed, because it's the type of visitor and your niche that matter. You can go ahead and create Google News site, which with moderate effort on your part will bring you 100K monthly visits, but you'll be lucky if you make $1,000 from that. On the other hand, you may have a small affiliate product oriented site with far fewer than 100K visits and make more than $3K/mo. The reason is the visitors and the reason why they are on your site. I say that from my own experience, not just imagination. Focus on what you want to make, instead of the number of visitors. Good luck!

I'd rather have 10K views a month from 10 smaller sites than 100K from one large site. For 2 reasons:

        1) It gives me potential to grow with every single site. If I get each one to increase by only 10K, I've just doubled my views to 200K a month. Pushing a 100K/month site up gets increasingly difficult, and on average, you'll probably be able to make more gains across 10 sites than on a single site, and you can take a few risks.

        2) Far less worries about massive fallout on my single site.

It will take daily and consistent effort on your part, you will need a good traffic schedule that consists of a good mix of free and paid traffic.

Don't focus on just one traffic method, you need a good mix of traffic activities that you must complete daily in order to get good traffic.
