I made money for the first time, within ten minutes of trying!

Granted it was only $5 on fiverr, but it feels great earning for the first time!

For the last couple of months or so I have been working very hard on my website and it has been difficult (I had no experience before), especially when you know that any earnings is going to take at least several months.

Randomly today I was looking through various article writers on fiverr and had a quick idea - I could differentiate myself by providing articles of a greater standard than is out there at the moment. Normally I would brush such ideas off as distractions, particularly as I have significant work still to do with main website. However I changed my mind and quickly posted a job for the first time, offering to write high quality and original articles and then left my computer. About ten minutes after, I decided to check my email and was ecstatic to find someone had purchased my gig already! I know it is a very small amount, but to receive a payment for the first time is a great motivator.

I decided as he was my first customer I would ensure I would deliver a fantastic service so I immediately wrote the content, doubling the word count I originally specified and offering to revise any of it for free. I'm still waiting to hear back from him, but I'm sure he'll be surprised to find his gig has already been completed - especially as I originally said it would take two days.

I do feel a lot more encouraged now, I'd advise anyone starting out to try experience how it feels to be paid for a service for the first time, even if it means listing a simple service on fiverr!

Well done on your first $s the first is always the best feeling!

Being better than the competition and over delivering will see you reap the rewards in whatever you do.

    Again well done.

Is is true that the best and easiest way to make money online is by offering some kind of service.

As you can see - it works.
I'm happy for you, but I'd like to give you some advice on fiverr as I have had experience with them.

1 - NEVER, under any circumstances go against their TOS (mainly giving away personal contact info) - they'll shut you down and your account + traffic will be gone. They won't respond to support tickets no matter what.

2 - Better to overdeliver in quality than in quantity (especiall since you're a writer). When I buy a 700 word article, that's exactly what I need. I wouldn't be able to use a 1400 word article.

3 - Make more gigs that are easier and faster to do. The first sale always feels brilliant, but once the novelty is gone, everything becomes a numbers game. Unless you can complete the gig in under 15 minutes - I'd modify it.

    Good luck!

    Andrey

Well done. Your gig description is well written.

Have you considered iWriter also? I think for regular 300 word articles they pay similar to a Fiverr gig ($3.91).

It's good if this worked as a kind of boost, but you should also value your time. The time you have is the most valuable thing, because you can never have more of it. So try to leverage the best you can when trading it for money.

I write articles on Fiverr too (over $9,000 earned since March). I frequently over deliver in terms of words and some people dislike it. So much so that now I get some regulars saying 500 words max per article. So I suggest that you over deliver in quality instead If you do get successful be prepared for A LOT of orders. I think my gig was mentioned on a couple of websites which caused a lot of orders (around 10 gigs coming in a day now)

Good work and congratulations, little bit of advice though go all out with every customer, whether on Fiverr or one paying you $1,000 as they will keep coming back and be willing to pay more each time.

Fiverr is a good place to start and get work out there and feedback but wont make you rich especially from writing services as time isnt on your side, ride it out for a few months then use what you have learned to catch the bigger fish and make real money.

Congratulations! The first bite is the sweetest...or something like that.

As has been mentioned above, be sure to keep a perspective on how valuable your time is if you decide to pursue the fiverr gig for real.

Congrats Man. Really appreciate sharing this. Your order came from your Quick idea. That too, you got it when you were not looking for it.That's the advantage of persistance. So never give up. If you are passionate of some thing, start your business about that and never ever give up. You will definitely get some new ideas and that will change your life.

Even though i build websites (occasionally), the sweetest bit is when I sell them hosting and get commission for doing no work other than referring.

If only i didn't have to build them a site...

Congratz! That first bit of online money is such a sweet taste. Now go out there and multiply and streamline your efforts.

As an example, there is a long-running WSO on here that features .99 cent article writing. I'm not saying you SHOULD, but as an example you COULD outsource your gigs to someone like that. (outsourcing a Fiverr gig, I know..crazy right?)

The point it that it would streamline your time and profit. You pay .99 and profit $3.01 but working maybe 3 minutes as opposed to say an hour.

Sue mentioned traffic gigs. These kinds of concepts should be running through your head right now.

Congrats on your first earnings. One of the tip I read from one of the top fiverr sellers is never to consider that you are doing the work for five bucks. Never think it is five bucks. Imagine how would you have provided the service had you got a bigger amount for the gig - something like fifty bucks.

This way, you would be sure to always try and provide high-quality service and have quick turnaround times. That may be helpful to you in having long-term success on Fiverr and elsewhere.
