Need your Help - Product Sales Cycle

Hello Everyone. I am fairly new the the Internet Marketing world but have many years of marketing and web experience specifically seo and multimedia design. I am looking for advice on how to improve my cycle.

I decided to do a test product in the new age / self improvement niche. My product launched about 6 months back and I am wondering how I can improve sales. I know this is not a lucrative niche and was mainly a test to see how everything works also wanted to get my templates set up so I can move into the mmo niche.

I have made a decent amount of sales, but am now averaging about 2 per month. I am getting close to 10 organic opt-ins per day on my squeeze page and a nice amount of traffic as I have numerous 1st page keywords. My list is approaching 1,000.

Here is my squeeze page: Astral Projection

Here is my organic site with a pop-up opti-in which most of my traffic comes from: What is Astral Projection? The Science Behind Astral Projection and How to Have an Out of Body Experience.

Once you opt-in you receive a free guide with a pdf, binaural beat and short audio book (basically a lite version of the full guide)

Afterwards you get 4 videos, one per day building up the guide: What is Astral Projection? Discover the amazing sensation of leaving your physical body.

The fourth video introduces the sales page. Then there are about 15 additional emails in the cycle that go out depending on if they buy or not, more free guides, sales pushes, 50% off offer, etc. There is also an upsale product.

I am debating on wether or not to drop the price down to $49 from $99 and am wondering what I can do to improve sales. Please take a look at everything, copy, e-mails, etc. Your professional input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

- Russell

Russell, best if you could include your full set of numbers...how many unique visits your site gets each day, how many of those are opting in and how many sales you make.

If I was to take a wild guess you would be getting between 150 and 200 unique visitors each day making 10 opt-in's and then making only 2 sales per month?

If that is correct, then the BIG problem is your sales letter. If this approximates your traffic, you should be getting anywhere from 30-45 sales per month - could be the price, but most likely it is the sales letter itself. Either the benefits and copy are not compelling enough OR it is a bad match for the traffic that is being generated...or both.

    Two things you can do...

    1. Make sure you get yourself a copy review...no reason you shouldn't be converting much higher in this space if you really get to the bottom of what your market wants and why...then tell the before and after story of investing in your product

    2. Make sure that the traffic you are generating are coming in from highly relevant keywords rather than something related, but not targeted well to the product itself.

Finally, an idea for your opt-in page and forms - talk about some of the BIG benefits that people will get when they master astral projection. What are the leading 2-3 reasons people want to master astral projection? That's why I should see as soon as my eyes hit your squeeze page.

Thank you Jeff, here are the specifics:

    Traffic:
    • 4,449 uniques (Dec 14 - Jan 13 )
    • On a good day I am getting 200 uniques, the lowest day was 80.

    Opt-Ins
    • December 2012 = 92 opt-ins
    • November 2012 = 109 opt-ins
Looking at the daily my average is around 7, but rising quickly.

    Sales:
I have had 17 overall sales since August 2012. 3x in December.

Such a pretty website.. Have you tried press releases? It seems like many magazines might enjoy this kind of product. Natural Health would be a good one to send to first. But even newspapers and blogs would be good. That would really increase the profits. Does it come with a physical option as well? If so.. mail order might be a good idea for those that don't like online goodies but still want to buy.
You could always split test you sales letter.. this could help you decide if it's the price or the content.

    Good luck!

    keep moving forward

One of the best things you can do is dropping the price as much as you can let's say $27, and give your affiliates 75% commissions. There are many affiliate networks out there that will help you sell more such as ClickBank, ShareASale and DigiResults. You also should make a high ticket products and offer your affiliates 50% commission, and it should be placed as a backend offer.

Ok - so looking at the numbers, let's assume 150 uniques (on average) per day is that you see in your stats.

Now let's assume *some* of these are bots (search engines, etc...) - so let's say there are 80 REAL unique visitors each day or 2400 per month.

If you are getting 7-10 opt-in's each day, that is about a 10% opt-in rate which is ok, but really you should shoot for 15-20% if the traffic is well targeted.

But the real issue is on sales...you should be seeing a minimum of 24 (1%) sales and shooting for something like 36 (1.5%) or more. Typically what I find is that my "cold" leads (direct to sales page) convert at about 1.5-1.7% and warmer leads (those on your list) are converted at much higher levels - up to 7% is not unexpected.

The fact that you are converting somewhat on opt-in's but not on sales tells me that your sales page is badly underperforming.

I have looked at some of your material - interesting stuff, but what is badly missing are two things:

    1. A couple of BIG "insider" benefits (things that you likely already know really motivate people to a) explore astral projection further and b) get over what ever hump they are stuck with when they arrive at your site. The messaging is all to informational right now and not hitting them in the "emotional gut". Talk less about what is in the course and more about what it will do for them. Hopefully you understand what I mean here :-)

    2. Testimonials - you really want to get a few of your "friendly" reviewers or customers to give you testimonials on what they were able to achieve or improve as a result of your material. This is important to increasing sales.

Also - on your follow-up sequence to your list, your videos are great, but again they are more informational than they are GUT-level entice-to-buy pieces of marketing. For example, make a video that shows the audience an incredible technique that led to some major change in your/or someone's astra projection experience. That would be worth a dozen informational videos

    Hope all this helps,

    Jeff

Thanks Jeff, This is what I had assumed but will definitely be making content changes now.

How about the e-mail cycle... After they opt in, they get the free guide, then receive the video 1 by 1 for 3 days THEN get the sales page video on the 4th. Should I be sending them directly to sales video after they opt-in or continue to build trust with good-will content? I hear mixed things from different internet marketers on wether or not to send them to the sales page immediately.

Also I have a $17.99 product should I be offering that one first, or keep it as an up-sale if they buy the full guide?

      Thanks.
