Don't waste your time with checks on Clickbank

I, probably like a lot of some guys from here don't live in a country were direct deposit is accepted so I have to stay with the check. WRONG, after some emailing back and forth with CB I changed my payment details to WIRE without being paid a single check up to this date ( a lot of people say you have to receive at least 2 checks before you can change to WIRE ).

The only downside is that you get charged a 30$ on the transfer but in my opinion that's ok considering I'll get paid A LOT faster and I won't need to wait weeks or months for a check to get cleared. I hope it will help some of you and good luck on your earnings this year!

Hi Adrian, it's become a little easier for all now: ClickBank recently abolished the "2-checks" rule. Everyone can choose either direct deposit or wire transfer straight away, if they wish.

And I guess it has been there for a while now. Besides that direct transfer is available in most of the countries.

I still see that rule in their Getting paid page, once you've received two paper checks from ClickBank within a 12-week time period, you can start receiving payment via direct deposit.

Are you sure that they have abolished the checks, I mean why are they still mentioning the checks on their Getting Paid page if they have abolished them?

clickbank is not like CJ.com where you can get your check fast paying $40 for FedEx. Well, CJ seems to be pretty fine in terms of sending checks but big C is not so great. However, they pay anyway and that is what we want to see.

Hello Alexa, in my account settings I only had Check and Direct Deposit, they told me they only do it on request at this time.

      Yes, that sounds right.

Direct deposit is available in a limited range of countries, shown here: Accounting Policy - ClickBank

Wire transfers are available in the other countries, in which direct deposit isn't available.

Checks, as far as I know, are available in any country from which CB accepts account-holders - but the "2-checks" rule is gone, now (very recently). The deal with Payoneer is also pretty new, I think.

Payoneer seems to be a great service and a very good solution for most of the problems with payment processing online, but I hate to mention that this service is not available in India and I cannot avail it.

        Hi atulnarang,

An account is eligible to receive a payment once it has cleared the customer distribution requirement and has exceeded the account's minimum payment threshold. This includes direct deposit to India. We no longer have a 2 check minimum rule before setting up direct deposit, though our system defaults to a payment method of Check until the account holder changes it by entering their banking information. The support article you reference on getting paid will be updated to correct the statement on the 2 checks.

You can see more on this post.

        Thanks,
        The ClickBank Team

Why not just wait for the checks? I always wait for the checks to come in the mail. Call me old fashioned but I really like it that way and it;s quite motivating to open up those envelopes and seeing the total right there starring me in the face.

Years ago when I first started with CB my bank held the checks for 15 days but once I established a history with the bank of always cashing those checks they do not bother to hold them unless the amount is over $2,000. Then they always hold a portion until it clears, which usually takes about 5 - 7 business days.

I hear you, but you're in Canada, and checks don't take too long to get from Idaho to Canada, nor too long to clear.

But ClickBank also has affiliates in countries where their checks can take a month to get to them and nearly two months to clear, and those checks have a life of only three months anyway, so they really were causing a lot of people a lot of problems.

Once it became well known that ClickBank was willing - on request (as they more or less had to be, in the circumstances!) - to add the amounts of the first two checks on to the first bank direct deposit/wire transfer, instead of insisting on paper checks, there wasn't really all that much point in retaining the system. They still use checks, of course, for those who want them: they've just dropped the "insistence" on starting off with a couple of them.

I hate checks. Ok, not the checks, but the hideous and utterly outrageous fees banks charge to cash them, in particular if they are foreign.

No chance! Perhaps alright if you're in the US or Canada but in the UK by the time the check arrives you then get shafted by the banks for paying in a US check.

Not worth the hassle just for the fun of looking at a check...

I'd rather they just dealt with it and pay it straight into my bank account so I can crack on with other stuff.

No, there are no fees (Depending on your account services) for cashing US checks. Then I have the choice of depositing into my US checking account or to exchange it into Canadian funds.

I've been using the Virtual US Account from payoneer to receive my payments for a couple of years now. It worked out pretty good for me (too bad I can't use it anymore for Amazon affiliate checks).

Checks are old fashioned, but as Mike has said, it is so much fun opening them!

Feels like you have still achieved something for all you hard CPA work!!!

Also, unlike Direct, you cannot photocopy them and put them in your $$$$ scrapbook or all over the wall

Even a $30 charge would be fine instead of waiting for weeks and worrying about the check getting lost somewhere by the postal service. Also, the banks also incur a lot of charges for clearing International checks anyway. Getting the money instantly without any hassle is just great. Also, they are valid only for 90 days, so that is also going to be a concern. Overall, Checks means hassles.

But, I have a little doubt here. Are you sure they do not insist on the checks and would listen to me when I request them to send me direct deposits or wire transfers?
