Monetising A Hobby Blog...(How Would You Do It)

One of the reasons why folks are not seeing me about quite so much nowadays (Besides selling off most of my online stuff) is because I'm engrossed in a new hobby which I decided the other day to blog about. www.caravannewbie.com

At the moment, it's just a hobby site which I'm writing just for myself (and any other Caravan Newbie who may come across it), but I must admit, the IMer inside me is to think about monetising it in some way). Suggestions would be gratefully received folks.

BTW not sure if the same applies in any other country, but here in the UK, this "niche" is booming at the moment (Hint)

Cheers
Kim

The affiliate in me says....... fill yer boots with:

    Equipment:
Camping Gear, Camping Equipment, Camping Tips & Camping supplies| Gear For Camping

    Insurance:
    Affiliate Programme - E&L Insurance

    Gadgets and More:
    Affiliate Login - Outdoor Bits

This niche is HOT right now... with the current scaremongering in the news about the "financial crisis".. tons of people are now polluting my favourite fishing haunts

    Peace

Try EPN or something where people can purchase camping items etc.

    Kim,

I would start in an unobtrusive way by using
Adsense. I'd monitor the clicks to see which
adverts get the best CTR and then I'd look
for affiliate opportunities based on that initial
    research.

However, it's never too early to build a niche
    list!
    ;-)

Airstreams are cool, and there is actually a forum if you'd like to get into some subniches.

That forum might be a good place to post and add a signature.

I was thinking about getting one of these and gutting it out to make an office.

And even now - I just put in a google search for vintage campers and there are ads that appeared.

One of the ads was for foreclosed RV's - and that could be an easy catch. Offer to find ones people can pick up for less.

For sure you need to start building the list with a free report or something...warm 'em up while you figure out exactly what to sell them!

You could add a forum to it, and start off by posting your own trips and pictures, and encourage your visitors to post their stories along with pictures of their trips.

This alone would be a great way to find out what your visitors are talking about, what they are interested in, and what you could really make some money off of in this niche. It's also a great way to add content to your site.

Take a look at the negative side of caravaning. Write reports on living in a confined space, what to do with kids when the weather is foul, cooking in that tiny kitchen. For the money offer storage solutions, games, books, easy meals from that tiny kitchen.

    Hi Kim,
Great Niche! Personally, I would load up your site with all the extra's that comes with the Caravan movement such as supplies, servicing and all the other goodies. Then, I would use Google and CPA to making a killing. Starting a forum is also great for building up a fantastic following - not to mention a huge mailing list.

    Kim,

You could alsways add a poll to your blog and
ask your readers to tell you what products and
services they believe to be essential.
