Depends on what you are good at.

I like video because I can make them easily. I am bad at article writing though most here are excellent at that.

      Hi pbdune01,

Tests have shown that video is up to three times better than text for selling product on line. And it's easy to see why ...

Hardly anyone reads a long sales letter, word for word. Instead they read the headline, scroll down to the post script and then search for the price.

That means they make a decision based on scant knowledge of the awesome value of your product.

On the other hand, with a video message, you can control the order in which your prospect gets your sales message. So they don't find out the price (for example) until you've shown them all they are getting. This makes it more likely they will understand why they want the product.

In addition, buying is an emotional process. And it takes a really good copywriter to tickle the buyer's sweet spot with just words. But with video you can show tantalizing shots of how they will be once they own the product.

So - if it's a health product, for example - shots of laughing healthy folks will do the trick. And if it's a make money product, I find that videos of folks sailing expensive boats or driving luxury cars fits the bill nicely.

      Warmest regards,

      Paul

        Hi,

Now a days video is the first priority to use for selling. Articles are better for SEO.
But when selling of a product comes then a video is better because
a video converts more than an article. Time is more valuable in this era.

Same thing is true of video. Most people don't know how to make a video, and they make them long and boring, and people just scroll down.

I like combining video and articles, but I think that video definitely is better to make a point.

Just keep in mind that if the first video doesn't work, maybe the second one will...

The most important thing is testing, testing and more testing... so test a few variations to see what works for you.

          Good luck

I agree, video is becoming more and more a preferred way for a product and they aren't hard to make. What I find even better is video coupled with text, like a summary or some addendums.

Hmm. I'd like to answer from a different perspective. Because video is a delivery mechanism.

What we sell should determine how we deliver it.

    For example:

So if we're teaching someone how to do a specific exercise in order to help them survive a bad injury, best thing is to be there in person. But when that's not possible, we look creatively at what we can do to help that person.

Step 1. might be we use a webcam on both sides so we can see each other. Then maybe we observe how that person is moving and we recognize that movement is not going to work given that injury. Maybe we record what we're seeing (our client) and what we're saying (our notes) so we can figure out how TO help and then give that client only a copy of that session. Here, it's a private session in this example where we also use step 1 to actually interact and help live.

Step 2. might be to study what we recorded and turn that into hand drawings that we use as a pdf to help other people who might be able to recognize our product as a solution to their problem.

In this example, we might use that video session for our information product research so we can be sure we're helping people. But then a pdf might be our best deliverable.

Or, we might have real talent in the area of drawing and we might make a cartoon and interpret the webcam video footage (which is medical here and hence confidential!) and use our helping our first person as a practical walk through so we are sure that we are keeping our product simple and easy.

Or we might simply sell our services from then out without recording. Most people don't like to be recorded

Basically, simple is doable. So we study how we help and we take it to the simplest and easiest ways of delivery.

    Sometimes video is required.

Sometimes the written word is sufficient.

Sometimes a pdf with words and pictures is better.

    Bottom line?

Real people with real problems require we adapt in order to figure out exactly what one thing we can do to deliver real help.

Video is what's hot now for selling, although you need some text copy also. I would definitely say you need to worry about your video first then you can move more towards turning the copy used in your video into text copy

Sure, video is much better then text articles that people read.

In a video, they see you as a real person and not someone who is trying to "hide" behind the text of an article.

I like writing text articles better then videos though.

Videos tend to rank faster but articles are second to none. TubeMogul is a great website to submit videos. There are lots of Fiverr gigs to take advantage or article marketing as well.

Yes, videos do rank higher then articles but articles rank well too.

If you use this forum's article section for example, you will find out to see that your articles rank very high in a matter 30 minutes or less for your specific keywords.

Normally videos work better when it comes to online sales content. Having a real human in the video talking to you would be even better as it shows credibility.

But you shouldn't dismiss your articles though. Not every prospect has a connection powerful enough to buffer a whole video and watch through everything. Some also prefer to skim through your content, so your articles are just as valuable as well.

Just do both if you can, so you can extend to the widest reach of audience and potential customers.

Videos definitely have greater impact on people.
You can just look on google when you search for something.
Videos (mainly Youtube) are showing on the first page of
    Google for many keywords.
And video sharing sites are also social media sites.
Google likes social media and epecially video sahring
    sites like Youtube.

99% of the time I would say videos like most people in this conversation but I found myself looking for wordpress plugins today and found a really good article with images. For tutorials and quick guides I think a well written post is less time consuming than videos and easier to follow.

I don't believe this is the norm though, and when you can do a video you should (as long as it enhances the content / viewer engagement)

To me I think video and article are different type of job.
Article is best for sharing long information and Video is best for sharing short information for product.

Depends on where your mastery is. But nowadays, people are so lazy (even just to read) that they prefer just watching a video than reading what the video has to say. Both have advantages and disadvantages, but if you ask me, I want a video but make sure the content is shown and spoken.

Generally videos are more popular. People generally enjoy watching videos more than they do reading articles.

For me video has always sold the best. But I use a lot of written products as well. Basically my end product is video, but most of my marketing is written. Of course if you have video you can transcribe it into a written document. And if you have an article or eBook you can record it as video. No reason not to use both, two products based on the same source material are better than one.

The most effective way is video + article. Use video to drive traffic to your article and make your article as detailed as possible. It's easier to rank for keywords on YouTube than use a website to do so.

I do this frequently and it works very well. Just make sure your article is on YOUR domain, and not some junky article site.

I am going to be blunt and say BOTH! However, I prefer articles to video big time! Despite the claims that people watch more videos than read articles, I have noticed that the only really informative videos are the ones showing how to install wordpress etc! Plus, in most cases, the videos suck and you can SEE right away whether the marketer knows his stuff or not! Some videos are just hideous and if it's not someone talking then you have a slide show...and it's not even better! Articles are there to last, I am not sure video are! When I say articles, I am not speaking of re-hashed stuff that you can get off most article directories! Videos or Vlog can be good when you have an established audience and many subscribers. And as for the link value, honestly, I don't know and I don't rely on it! We can't control Google so...

My 2 cents, but yes I do prefer articles to videos! Big time!

    Yoan
