Hey guys,

I was hoping some of you could help me out. I have two questions.

I'm beginning to look around at different Ghostwriters as I'm planning on getting a product created. Basically, it will be a course spanning over 6 months where the member will get an email lesson each week of roughly 3-4 pages in length for the duration of the course.

1. How much would I roughly be looking at when getting this created?

- In total, 3-4 pages x 25 lessons and I'll supply the information.

2. I would love if some of you could throw some names of good writers around so I can go out and see some of their work and make a better decision.

Thanks guys!

    Hey,

In my experience dealing with ghostwriters I have found an average of $10 per page for a ghostwriter who has a good turnaround and original content. However, I have seen here on the WF and digital point forums as low as $1 per 100 words.

I have used a cheap outsource through getafreelancer for 100 articles at $3 and article, sent him all the moeny upfront, and came back with 300 articles straight out of old school Entartica Encyclopedias.

Now I pay around $12-$15 per page because those writers usually tend to use correct grammer and flow, when you hit the $20+ per page mark you are usually dealing with professional writers that have degrees in writing and excellent credentials.

Take a look around some of the WSOs here, and post a project bid over at elance.com to grab a whole bunch of pricing data.

If you want I can send you one of my writers that I have used who provides an excellent turnaround, usually an entire product within a month.

I charge $10/page and I'm not even a full-time writer. If you want any old writer, you can find people writing for less than a cent a word. If you want excellent writers, you're looking at $20+ per page. Keep in mind there will always be people overcharging or undercharging.

Btw, what format will your 25 lessons be taking? Email lessons?

I agree with the above. For teh BEST results, get an article or a page done and look at the quality of that. You can definitely get high quality content for between $10-$15 per page. When you starting going down to the $1 per 100 word category, a host of problems open up.

Just my two cents, let me know if I can be of help, good luck with the project!

I'm still in the infant stages of getting it underway, I probably won't need a writer for another month or two.

I'm just trying to get an idea of what I should be looking for. I suppose I should budget for anywhere between $750-$1500.

Yep, they'll be in the form of a pdf delivered each week via email.

25 lessons, each lessons will span 3-4 pages, an easy estimate would be a 100 pages material in total.

I think your estimate of $750-$1500 is just about right. If you are opening the selection, I may be happy to work from $950-$1250. Of course I would take the lower limit anytime if my main task is only to write, with research materials provided by you. If I need to do (much) research myself, then certainly the cost would be higher. Willing to produce sample of previous work as well as write something custom for your inspection if you would consider me.

OK too much of pre-selling myself here, better stop here now. Lastly, good luck to your project

When looking at paying by the word. The guys who write at $1/100 words are definitely NOT the quality writers you want. I've worked with many copywriters over the last few years, and if you want a real writer you need to start looking in that $2-4/100 word area. These will be native english speakers, who write with proper grammar, and provide a quality product. If you dip to $1/100w expect to get crap in return.

This is just my 2cents learned from my own personal experiences.

I have used a few writers and I have gone for the cheap end when I started and I thought I was doing ok until my wife was sitting here and talking to me while I worked.

"How much time are you spending re writing that?"

      "I don't know"

"I bet you could have written a article just as quick"

That was when i sat back and realized she had a point, if I am spending 20 mins rewriting then it isn't really saving me any time is it. and that is the whole point of using a writer.

So I sacked my writer and started looking around, I now have a couple of writers I use.
They aren't as cheap but I don't have to spend my time rewriting everything so it is worth it for me.

        Exactly.

I find this when hiring for any position. I've hired indians many times for data entry type jobs, where i can pay $1/hour and they will get things done. but there's often errors, communication breakdowns, it's hard to get them going in the right direction. Then I started outsourcing to the Philippines and suddenly things were that much better. The language barrier overall was a little less difficult to work around, the work seemed to come back much better overall, it was good. it cost me more to outsource to the Philippines VS India, but it's been worth my while ever since.

Going for the cheapest option is usually not the safest bet if you're looking for quality.
