An idea I've been wanting to try is to print flyers for a great product, and distribute them as an affiliate. Then have the URL on the flyer contain my affiliate link, which points straight to a sales page.

Will the affiliate link work? How do I set this up?

Has anyone tried a similar method?

It's a great idea if the product is really good and your flyers must be in the targeted niche.

I have read someone doing the same methods with:

    1. Weight Loss Affiliate and pay his distributors to target ladies with success.
    2. Dating Sites and pay his distributors (sexy ladies) to target young man with success

Ever notice that people who spend money on WSO, memberships and courses, are always complaining about being broke and not making any money ?

They should have bought ASSETS instead.

I won't recommend wasting your time too much with flyers for affiliate products. If you're selling a high ticket product for something physical, and that appeal to the general public, that's a better route.

It's not that the method doesn't work, in order to really sell products through flyers, you have to distribute them to a HUGE audience, because most will get thrown away. Unless you can drop them out of a helicopter ( Which would be cool ) I wouldn't recommend it.

hahha from an helicopter that would be special. Yeah offline flyers can be used but its worthless at this point. people still think making money online is a myth.

I read about someone doing something similar here and having great success. But instead of using flyers he was using cards because people have a habit of putting away cards in their wallets and then looking at it when they get home. Flyers are too common and people tend to trash it after reading it.

Business card have a different and more professional feel to flyers. Flyers feel like Night Club info and Super store '2 for 1 offers' which end up at the bottom of bags or bins.

I have tried that before but hadn't done well with that so I wouldn't recommend. However, there are definitely people out there who has had success using your method.

The trick with flyers is to do your research and give them out to the right people (as hinted in other posts). I also agree that smaller 'business card sized' flyers work the best because they usually find their way in to people's pockets rather than the nearest trash can.

Myself and people I have partnered with have done five figure months with flyers promoting products or offers as an affiliate. Definitely achievable and one of the oldest ways to market products!

The best way to do the link is to buy a cheap domain name (even a $2 .info) and have it redirected to your affiliate link. That way the link looks nice and clean on the flyer.

At the end of the day if you have access to cheap printing then you can do some real damage with flyers and offline marketing! If you print out 6-10 business card sized flyers per standard page then they will likely only be costing you 1c or less per flyer Then just pay a couple of kids a few dollars to go and hand out the flyers and you are all set!

Lets say you were promoting a product that pays you $30/sale... you would only need to get 1 sale for every 3000 flyers just to break even... I don't know about you but those odds have always appealed to me!

    Hey sheffernan.

I have used flyers in the past to good effect but so as not to waste time and money you need to be LASER targeted!! and find a reliable but cheap method of delivery!!

Obviously I don't know what you are promoting.... if it is something most people would be interested in then a blanket mailing would be ok.

Also another thing to think about is "why should anyone keep your flyer let alone read it, over every other piece of junkmail we all get "?
Make it stand out! be different.

Again, depends on what it is for ..... but I have used heavy laminated cards before to stick on fridge, a lot of people keep these and use them!

As for The afilliate link.......They are usually automatically generated when you sign up to promote someones product (clickbank etc) but they tend to be very long so you would be wise to use a url shortening site for a nice easy "Short" url to put on your flyers

    .......Just my 2p worth......

    all the best.

If you run local business and distribute flyers to people, you can get some benefits. Your idea seems creative, but at this point of view it won't work for affiliate sales to target audience.

If you are going to print those flyers and then have your affiliate link on it which will look like this:

    companyname.com/2148172412/affiliate.html.........

This is so not professional and people will probably not buy let alone type that affiliate link in their browser.

What I would do is to actually register your own domain name and have the website direct people to your affiliate link page.

    yournichename.com looks more professional.

Just make sure that you add the niche in your domain name and don't make it too long. 2-4 words is acceptable.

We are testing a new squeeze type product and using business cards instead of flyers.

It is in the MMO niche and is working very well.

Instead of using an affiliate link or a dedicated domain we are using 307 redirects for our affiliates. theirname.oursite.com

The kicker is we are giving away a product on the squeeze that makes money from the free side. The cookie is set upon free signup and the affiliates are paid as upgrades and products are purchased.

One test affiliate has been adding over 100 people a day to the list and already been paid out a few thousand dollars .. so we know it works. And this affiliate didn't even have the skills to set up their account .. we set it up for them.

The best way to set that up would be to get a new domain that is similar to the product and redirect it to the affiliate link. You will need a catchy domain name that people can remember easily because they will need to type it in a browser. Many businesses do similar advertising already, and it can work well when marketed to the correct people.

Use business cards or drop cards. You will get better results. Also, it is important to use a domain name and redirect them to your affiliate link. Otherwise, they may not type the whole link in or type it wrong.

Yes, I do this all the time around my neighborhood. Except, I don't use an affiliate link. I buy a domain name from Godaddy and have it forwarded to my affiliate link. That way, when I print out my flyers, it has a regular domain name one it. People don't trust strange looking urls.
