Offering an upsell BEFORE I have CC info...good idea?

If a person clicks on my Buy Now button and then goes straight to the upsell page, am I in danger of losing the sale PERIOD?

Is it better to secure the primary purchase first and THEN offer the upsell?

(My membership plugin doesn't support Clickbank's one click upsell, hence my question...)

    Best thing is to test!

    I suspect the answer depends on how committed someone feels to getting your original offer.

    How well do you feel you've qualified your buyer at that point?


    (1) My guess is that anyone who really wants the upsell itself will continue

    (2) From a logical perspective, anyone who feels annoyed at the upsell is at least somewhat more likely to X out of the page rather than reach for wallet and take out credit card hoping to find out how to pay for the thing they wanted.
