Clickbank or Physical products for affiliate sales?

Clickbank these days seems like it is just too risky. I have been an affiliate, but the number of refunds people ask for is insane. I am wondering if physical products are better to promote because they convert higher and there is less chance of a return. Does anyone else feel this way? The only thing I hate about physical products is the margins are really small. I still feel this is better than Adsense though.

Margins are small, but conversions are high if you're going after the right keywords. I dropped CB awhile back, even though the commission percentages were pretty high. I just had a hard time getting much of anything to convert. Definitely may not be the case for others. But I prefer being laser focused on buyer keywords and promoting physical products.

It depends mostly on how you promote stuff (and slightly on what stuff you promote, too).

IM/MMO and Forex products do have higher than average refund-rates, but different affiliates have hugely differing refund-rates for the same products. It all depends on the pre-selling and the strength of the relationship built with subscribers.

For me, they do convert much better, but that's because when I compare my conversion-rates for physical and digital products, I'm more or less "comparing Amazon with ClickBank" (I barely sell any physical products from CB, nor even many digital ones from Amazon), and one certainly isn't going to get the same conversion-rate on a product from ClickBank paying 60-75% commission that one will get on an Amazon product paying 8.0-8.5%.

That's ok, if the conversion-rate's high enough to make up for it, though? EPC is the number that matters most, isn't it?

But it's certainly possible to promote a very wide range of ClickBank products with refund-rates under 1%, provided one gets all the basic essentials right: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post7110523

Not many people will argue with that one, I think!

Physical products are great and if you think that the margins are low you are right, but there are products worth $25,000+ at Amazon as well. You also have to check out the refund rate of a product before promoting it as well.

I prefer clickbank over physical products. I find it easier and more profitable. You just have to pick the right products.
I'm also starting to lean more toward services. Services that aren't to expensive and that people need. Just be sure to read the terms of what you are promoting in case the customer cancels.

The thing to do is to decide what you like, and what you are interested in, and then pick products physical and or digital based on your interests. I think that is the secret. If you do what you love you will have a website that will show it, as well as sell products, and it will attract those people who are interested in what you sell

The reason I believe Clickbank has higher refund rates is because it is too easy to to. A physical product requires more work and most people do not want to be bothered with it.

I would have to say it depends on the audience. Let's say you're promoting a course for dating over 60...it may not be as appealing to the older crowd to have everything being streaming video and PDFs...so a dvd course or cd course may be more likely to appeal to them.

Or maybe your audience has a common regiment, like let's take runners. Obviously they're on the go, running and exercising, so maybe a course that is specific to them will do better as an audio file so they can listen as they go.

I'd simply keep in mind who you're selling to and go from there. I don't think there is a clear definition of which is best WITHOUT keeping in mind who is likely to buy.
