DAP With Amazon Simple Email Service?

Anyone using this for email?

Seems like an excellent option, and I'm already using Digital Access Pass for one of my products.

It appears this solution may give a little more control, without the danger of running off your webhost IP and the expense of Aweber or the like.

Thoughts?

Hi Melanie,

Just so you know, the DAP + SES combination is being used on at least a couple of thousand web sites at this time - including our own site DigitalAccessPass.com - and it works like gangbusters!

NOTE: Amazon is getting stricter these days and not approving all SES account applications, but they are still approving more than 95% of all applicants, so unless your site has something to do with what they would consider "risky" sites, approval for a "production" account (for use on a live site) takes only a day at best.

  Ravi, does this combination mean better delivery for your emails? I get people not receiving emails with their passwords sometimes (only happens on free DAP products rather then paid products for some reason), so will using this combination ensure a better delivery rate? And if so, is there a guide on how to set it up? Thanks in advance.

Shaun,

SES definitely has industry leading deliverability for the autoresponder emails. But if I'm not mistaken, the username/password that's sent out to new members is sent from your server? Hence why many people don't get their login creds.

Shaun/Vic,

Once you turn "on" SES integration in DAP, and turn "off" localhost (under Email > SMTP), all emails, including instant "welcome emails", as well as the autoresponder and broadcast emails, admin notifications, aweber notificationse, etc - every single email will be sent out through SES.

Once you turn off localhost, your own server will be totally bypassed and no emails will be sent from your server. Everything goes out via SES.

So ALL emails sent out through DAP will get the benefit of Amazon's higher delivery rates.
