question on domain name selection

Hello Friends:

I am trying to engage in Internet Marketing, actually article marketing, and have a question about domain name selecting.

I am considering writing and marketing on kids fitness type niches. I found to my astonishment several kid fitness phrases that have no domain names already taken.

I check the phrases on https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and the numbers are encouraging if not powerful. That's ok as I can live with that.

I check same for competition and they are listed as "medium" or "small." Good.

Next I go to Google Trends and find a considerable interest in the phrases.

Great so far, but if I Google the same phrases I find page one is things like the Mayo Clinic and such that do not sell things on the site and are professionally run and managed.

Does this mean that although my competition is "medium", it is powerful and even overwhelming and would keep me out? Their domain names are not even remotely like the phrases I would use, but they still fill up at least page one.

Should I continue? Please tell me how to evaluate what I have found.

Thanks

Jim

Hey Jim - Are you asking if you can compete for a keyword that has sites like Mayo Clinic on page 1? If so then yes you can, but it would be impossible for anyone to give you a clear answer unless they knew the keyword. Alot of times the Mayo Clinic ranks just because of it's authority and not because it has alot of links, so sites like this you can outrank but it might take some time.
